The first school opened in 1892 in a tenant house and was taught by Rev.
S. L. Nease, pastor of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Later A. N. Boland gave an acre of land, and a one-room
school was built with T. Dreher as teacher. In 1900 the school had 90 students. J. W. Ballentine taught from
1905 to 1908. In 1920 the first grade class had 18 students, the 2nd grade class had 9 students, the 3rd grade
class had 12 students, 4th grade class had 12 students, 5th grade class had 14 students, 6th grade class had 11
students, 7th grade class had 15 students, 8th grade class had 20 students, 9th grade class had 15 students, and
the 10th grade class had 10 students.
