Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church

Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church is located on Drayton Street in Newberry, SC

Mayer Memorial was organized in 1899 with twenty-five members. Dr. O. B. Mayer, Jr., donated the funds in memory of his father; the land was donated by Newberry Mills. The church and all its records were destroyed by fire in 1919. The church was rebuilt and in 1957 the present brick structure was erected.

Initially the church was in a parish with Beth Eden and Colony. It formed a parish with Summer Memorial. In 1929, it became self supporting.

The following ministers came from this church: Louis E. Bouknight, D. M. Shull, Jr., and George T. Willis.
