Millers Church was one of three black churches built in the town of Newberry before G. M. Girardeau completed his map of the town in 1881. At that time it was known as 'The African Methodist Episcopal Church' located on Caldwell Street. The other two churches were: Bethlehem Baptist on College Street and Calvary Presbyterian on Caldwell Street (no longer exists). |
