Mr. M. D. Kinard born in Newberry District, S. C., October 15, 1828, and remained in Newberry a citizen respected by all who knew him in Co. F, being a part of the 20th Regt. S. C. V... killed 12th May 1864 in the Battle of Spottsylvania C. H. By request of his sister, Mrs. E. Black, of Smith county, Miss., the writer preached his funeral sermon. S. R. Sheppard. Issue ofSept 1, 1864

Henry Frederick Dominick was born in Newberry district, Nov. 19, 1845, and died at Stoney Creek, 31 July 1864 Capt. Warner's Co., Holcombe Legion. T. S. B. Issue of Jan 19, 1865

Departed this life on the 31st of May, 1854, Joseph Harrison, the son of Jacob Baker and Eve Margaret, his wife received into communion with the Ev. Luth. church at Beth-Eden, Newberry Dist., S. C.,August 1851 he left for Mississippi, Nov. 9th, 1853. He and all the family arrived in this State Dec. 11th, 1852 (sic), in Winston county. J. T. W., Issue of June 23, 1854

Died on the 7th of July, in Newberry Dist., S. C., at his father's residence, John P. Setzler, aged 18 days wanting 16 years (sic)., Issue of July 28, 1854

Departed this life on the 13th of Octo., in Newberry Dist., S. C., Mrs. Jane Hawkins, in the 84th year of her age, born in Camden, S. C., in 1770, and afterwards lived in Columbia, in Abbeville distirct and then in Newberry, her only two sons, Revs. P. W. and Elijah Hawkins, buried in Chapman's grave yard . Issue of November 24, 1854
Died on the 26th of Nov., 1854, in Newberry, S. C., John Frederick Schumpert, in the 31st year of his age, leaving an aged mother, widow and brothers and sisters....Pomaria, S. C. Issue of January 26, 1855

[p.126] Died at Newberry, S. C., on the 18th of March last, Mrs. Harriet Morgan, consort of John L. Morgan, aged 41 years, 1 month and 18 days, interred in the village burying ground. Issue of April 27, 1855

Died at Lexington C. H., on Friday, June 15th, Mr. John Berly, father of Rev. Prof. Wm. Berly, in the 67th year of his age, remains were conveyed to Newberry and interred in the family burying ground. He did not long survive his wife, Mrs. Barbara Berly, who died June 11th, 1854, in the 70th year of her age. T. S. B. Issue of July 27, 1855

 Died at his residence in Newberry District, S. C., on the 1st of Sept., Mr. Jacob Suber, in the 50th year of his age....elder of St. Matthew's Lutheran church. Issue of  Sept 14, 1860
Died, Nov. 8th, in Union Hospital, Richmond, Va., Mr, Wesley Werts, of Typhoid Pneumonia. His remains were brought to his father's, in Newberry District, S. C., and buried in the family cemetery. He was one among the first to volunteer to fight the battles of his country, a consistent member of the Lutheran church. D. M. B. Issue of December 14, 1861

Thomas W. Sligh, nephew of Captain Philip Sligh, fell a martyr in the cause of Southern independence, on the fatal field of Gettysburg, in the 23rd year of his age, in the Sophomore class of Newberry College. T. S. B. Issue of Aug 15, 1863
Capt. W. Philander Cromer of the Newberry Rifles, 13th Regt. S. C. V. died at Gettysburg, Pa.,member of Beth-Eden Lutheran Church. T. S. B Issue of Aug 15, 1863
Died on the 25th December 1863, near Beth-Eden, Newberry Dist., S. C., of inflammation of the brain, W. G. S. Chandler, aged 16 years and 2 months. Issue of Jan 16, 1864
