Francis Davenport: Newberry Co. Deed Book C, p. 273; WPA p. 21; May 18, 1795

Articles of agreement between Francis Davenport and Mary Turner, of the State and County aforesaid, are as follows that the above said Mary Turner doth covenant grant & agree to and with the said Francis Davenport in manner and form following that in cas the said Francis davenport and said Mary Turner shuld marry the said Mary Turner doth agree to & with the said Francis Davenport not to request any of said Davenport's estate that said Davenport & his former wife hat gotten after said Francis Davenport's decease further than it is his pleasure to give her. Eleanor Dixon: Newberry Co. Deed Book E, p. 8, WPA p. 2: October 14, 1800

Know all men by these presents that I Elanor Dickson do give and bequeath to Howel Cobb all my third part of the estate of Wm. Burgess, dec'd, my former husband, except a negroe girl named Chinea which I reserve until my death, and then to discend with the other property to the said Cobb, and his heirs for ever, he the said Cobb bind himself his heirs Ex'ors Adm'rs etc. for and in consideration of the said property to pay annually unto the said Eleanor Dickson ten pounds sterling and to furnish her with all necessary food, as bread, meat, tea, coffee & sugar. This article is to remain and continue and for the true performings of the above promises the said parties hath hereunto sett our hands and seals, the 16 day December anno Domine 1799. I, Mary Sibel Folk, the abandoned wife of John Folk late of Efingham County and state aforesaid do hereby acknowledge the recept of Ten pounds and other valuable considerations delivered unto me by Michael Dickert Esq., citizen of Newberry County in the State of south Carolina as a full and entire compansation for all parts or portions of the estate of him the said John Folk both real and personal which I the said Mary sibel Folk may be at this time or power hereafter interested in or entitled unto by virtue of my marriage with him this 16th day of May 1798. Eleanor Gilliland: Newberry Co. Deed Book D, p. 133; WPA p. 14; February 28, 1799

Personally appeared before me Frederick Nance one of the Justices assigned to keep the peace in & for the County of Newberry. Aforesaid Ellenor Large now the wife of John Large, but formerly the wife of william Gilliland, dec'd and made oath as the law directs that William Gilliland, Jr. is her Son, that he was born in Wedlock of her body during the life time of her late husband William Gilliland dec'd that the said William Gilliland, Jr. her said son, is the eldest son of them the said Elleanor and William Gilliland and that her said husband ided the first day of next Marach will be eighteen years ago, and further this Deponant Sayeth not. John Griffis: Newberry Co. Deed Book E, p. 169, WPA p. 28; May 13, 1801

Know all men by these presents that I John Griffis, of my own free will, and I cannot nor do not agree, with Mary Griffis, my wife, that is to say, to acquit her, and her presents, in real and personal, in any marriage, or any other wise, and her to do and deal, equal and free, from me, or my heirs, and assigns from this day forward forever not to controul, her in any wise etc. this 30th day of March 1801. Elizabeth Harden: Newberry Co. Deed Book B, p. 376, WPA p. 28; April 18, 1793

To all to whome these presents shall come or be made Known. Know ye that I Elizabeth Harden late of Virginia, Prince William County, do by these presents acknowledge the pretentions I have hitherto made by claiming Col. Phillimon Waters of the State & Count aforesaid as my lawfull Husband is false and eroneous & only a seducment of the Devil and his Emissaries in order to extort from said Col. Phillimon Waters a sum of money, that whatever pretentions, I had in my proceedings against him is of Forty two or Forty three Years back and that I the ceremonial part of our pretended marriage was a mere pretence & performed by a Minister, when drunk, and I do hereby declare that I never thought my self bound to the said Col. Phillimon Waters nor he to me by that Contract, that our cohabitation did not last for more than twelve months when he left me & shortly afterwards went to the Wars under Col. Geo. Washington (now his Excellency), when said Waters (as I was informed) went to South Carolina with the Army and I never heard, saw, or had any manner of communication with him for at least eighteen years or twenty years, about five or six years after said Waters left the State of Virginia I the said Elizabeth Harden had a female child by one Robert Sandford, Christina Ailsey and in Justice to the said Col. Phillimon Waters I do hereby, these presents, forever quit all manner of claim as a husband or any other way whatsoever either against his person or property and this I do of my own free will and accord without any manner of constraint whatsoever, in witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifth day of November One thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety two. Newberry Co., Deed Book B, p. 377: Personally appeared before me Levi Manning, J. P.; Elizabeth Harden late of Prince William County in the State of Virginia and made oath on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God and sayeth on her oath that Phillimon Waters Esq'r of the County of Newberry & State above mentioned is justly indebt to her, the said Elizabeth Harden, in the sum of twenty pounds Virginia money which is equel to fourteen pounds five shillings & eight pence sterling & further that she the said Elizagbeth Harden hath no other claim or demand in right or equity against the said Phillimon Waters his heirs, Executors, Administrators, or assigns neither in person or property. Comfort Stephens: Newberry Co. Deed Book A, p. 663; WPA p. 56; May 29, 1789

Before me Robert Gillam one of the Justices for the County aforesaid Personally came & appeared before me a Certain Woman by the Name of Comfort Stephens and being duly sworn on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God deposeth and saith that William Winchester, Jr. was born out of wedlock and before she the said Comfort and William Winchester, Sr. was married and that William Winchester, Jr. was no Heir to the Estate of William Winchester, Sr. but that Daniel Winchester is the Real Heir and further this deponant saith not. South Carolina, Newberry District, A Deed of Conveyance from Elias Hendrix to George Dominick.

The State of South Carolina Know all men by these presents that I Elias Hendrix of Newberry District in the State aforesaid & in consideration of the sum of Seven Hundred and twenty Dollars current money of said State to me paid by George Dominick of the same place have granted bargained sold released & by these presents do grant bargain sell and release unto the said George Dominick all that parcel or tract of land containing Seventy two acres (more or less) situate in the State & District aforesaid on little creek a branch of Big Creek a tributary stream of Saluda River adjoining lands of John W. Summers, John P. Harmon, Abijah Hendrix, David Boozer, George Dominick being a part of a tract of one hundred & fifty eight acres Reference maybe had to a plat of the same certified by A. R. Able D. S. bearing equal date herewith which will fully show forth the same.

Together with all and singular the Rights members, hereditaments, & appurtenances to the same belonging or in anywise incident or appertaining To have and to hold all & singular the premises aforesaid unto the said George Dominick his heirs & assigns forever.

And I do hereby bind myself my Heirs Executors and Administrators to warrant & forever defend all and singular the aforesaid premises unto the said George Dominick his heirs and assigns against myself and my heirs & every other person or persons whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof.

Calvin Schumpert a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in Newberry County and State aforesaid containing eighty-four and a half acres more or less, adjoining lands of John Parrot, E. H. Schumpert and D. P. Laker Together with all and singular the rights, members, hereditaments, and appurtenances to the said premises belonging, or in anywise incident or appertaining, to have and to hold all and singular the premises before mentioned, unto the said J.
