New Chapel Methodist Church was organized about 1830 by Isaac Herbert. It is the third Methodist church in the Newberry circuit and is the smallest church in the circuit with a cemetery. Those ministers who came from this church are: Thomas G. Herbert, J. Marion Boyd, George M. Boyd, David P. Boyd, Walter I. Herbert, Thomas G. Herbert, Jr., Chesley c. Herbert, George Pierce Watson, and Robert C. Boulware.
