Pace, Linda M. of Newberry died Jan. 9, 2006 at Palmetto Health Richland. Born in Newberry County, she was the daughter of Alonzo Mendenhall and the late Pearl Werts Mendenhall. Surviving were three sons, Tyror Mendenhall (Melissa), Timmie Pace (Laketha) and Tonnie Pace, all of Newberry; three sisters, Dorothy Mayers of Newberry, Brenda Livingston and Patsy Mendenhall, both of Prosperity; three grandchildren, Tyndell Mendenhall, Tyrell Mendenhall and Keyon Pace; eight aunts; friends, Phillip Bates, Jerry Caldwell and Claude Swittenburg.  Burial in Mt. Page, John Love Jr., 86 years old, of Little Mountain, died Dec. 21, 2005, at Providence Hospital. Born in Gastonia, N.C., he was a son of the late John L. Page and Ninaleigh Boland Page Adair. He was a World War II Army veteran having served in Germany. He fought five major military battles and was the recipient of the Bronze Star. He was survived by his wife, Betty Shealy Page; sons, John Edward Page and Joel Shealy Page and his wife, Shelley; daughters, Ninamarie Page and Dianna Page Pelfrey and her husband, Jerry; grandchildren, John and Elizabeth Still, Jr., Hannah Still, Lindsey Page, Cody Page and Kyle Page. Palmer, Lily Werts 99 years old, widow of the late George G. Palmer, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005. Born near Silverstreet, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Pitts Werts and Mamie Schumpert Werts. Surviving were nephews, Arthur Pitts Werts, III and Robert Daniel Werts. She was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Pitts Werts and two sisters, Ora Frances Werts and Euline Schumpert Werts. Palmore, Celicia McMorris a resident of White Oak Manor-Newberry died July 29 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Born in Newberry County, she was the daughter of the late Henry McMorris and the late Gertrude Harris McMorris. She was predeceased by her husband, Sanders Palmore Sr.; daughters, Hazel Palmore Moss and Gertrude Palmore Wilson; and son, Griffin W. Palmore. Surviving were three sons, Robert J. Palmore of Asheville, N.C., Sanders Palmore Jr. of Greenwood and Oliver Palmore of Newberry; 20 grandchildren, including Wesley Palmore, Celicia Wise, Cora Connally and Alfred Wilson reared in the home; Burial was in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Palmore, Griffin W. of Newberry died Feb. 9 at his home. Born in Newberry County, he was the son of Celicia M. Palmore and the late Sanders Palmore. He was reared by the late Rev. Thomas Maybin and Alice Maybin. Mr. Palmore was predeceased by his wife, Sallie G. Palmore and sisters, Gertrude P. Wilson and Hazel P. Moss. Surviving in addition to his mother were one daughter, Kimberly M. Wright of Newberry; two sons, Griffin K. She was born in Greenville, a daughter of the late Paul and Bertha Taylor Paris.  Surviving were a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Frances Paris of Greenville. Parker, Lillie Belle Langley 80 years old, widow of  Mack C. Parker, died Nov. 30, 2004 at her residence. Mrs. Parker was born in Lake City, a daughter of the late David LaFayette and Selena Belle Baxley Langley. Surviving were five sons, Bruce (Linda) Parker of Union, Johnny (Mable) Parker of Franklin, Va., Tracy (Chris) Parker of Johnsonville, Danny (Ramona) Parker of Hemingway and Andy (Vernessa) Parker of Ft. Belvoir, Va.; three daughters, Mavis (Bill) Riley of Newberry, Judy Hodge of Sumter and Shirley (Ronnie) Baxley of Johnsonville; 23 grandchildren; 19 great grand children; and three brothers, Horace Langley of Darlington, Alton Langley of Barnwell and Bobby Langley of Atlanta, Ga. Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by two brothers, Legrande Langley and Randolph Langley. Interment was in Garden of Devotion Cemetery directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway. Parker, Robert Jennings Sr., 73 years old, of Marion, died April 3, 2005 at The McDowell Hospital. Born in McDowell County on March 24, 1932, he was a son of the late Mark and Nora Ann Hussman Parker. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean War. His wife, Pat Wellborn Parker, preceded him in death. Surviving Mr. Parker was a son, Jennings Parker and wife, Belinda, of Little Mountain; two grandchildren, Joshua and Zachary; two sisters, Jessie Sparks of Marion and Juanita McPeters of Old Fort; a special friend, Gladys Silver of Old Fort, also survives him. Mrs. Parks was born in Newberry County, a daughter of the late C. Ivy and Sallie Reagin Abrams. Mrs. Parks was survived by two daughters, Doris P. Parr, Charles Jackson (Charlie) 8 days old, of Prosperity, died 6/23/2004 at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital. Charlie was born in Columbia on June 15, 2004 to parents Kelley B. Parr and James N. Parr, Jr. Surviving, in addition to his parents are his maternal grandparents, Timothy and Kathleen Braithwaite of Columbia, Md. and his paternal grandmother, Betty Jo Parr of Pensacola, Fla. Mr. Parr was born in Newberry County on September 2, 1924, a son of the late Callie Boyd and Mary Nance Parr and was a B-24 pilot during World War II. Mr. Parr was survived by his wife of 56 years, Mittie Bryan Parr; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Parr Whitesides and Dr. Daniel Whitesides of Charlotte, N.C.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Henry L. Parr, Jr. and Lillian Webb Parr of Greenville and Dr. Boyd H. Parr and Cheryl Brubaker Parr and Calhoun B. Parr and Louise Davis Parr, all of Newberry; grandchildren, Mary Boyd and Daniel Bennett Whitesides of Charlotte, N.C.; Henry Lakin and Elizabeth Givens Parr of Greenville, Bryan Henry Parr of Arlington, Va., Jonathan Boyd, Ruth Virginia and Timothy Allen Parr of Newberry, and Leona Elizabeth and Mittie Elaine Parr, also of Newberry; and one brother David Boyd Parr of Newberry. Pearce, Juanita McEntire 91 years old, died on Jan. 1, 2004, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga. She was born on January 28, 1912, in Newberry County, the daughter of John Norris McEntire and Florence Boland McEntire. Her late husband, James C. Pearce, predeceased her in February 1985. In addition to her daughter and son in-law Florence and Richard B. Aiken, of Gainesville, she is survived by one son, Benjamin M. Pearce, and his wife, Susan, of Charlotte, N.C.; three grandchildren, James C. Pearce, II, and his wife Valerie of Lumberton, N.C., Richard B. Aiken, Jr. and his wife, Tonya, and Laura C. Aiken of Gainesville, Ga.; five great-grandchildren, McKay and Jackson Aiken of Gainesville, and Elizabeth Alexandra and Benjamin Pearce, II, of Lumberton. She was also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Annie Mae Jenkins of Cornelia, Ga. and Mrs. Frances Bartley of Newberry; one brother, Julian N. (Buddy) McEntire of Kershaw. She was predeceased by three sisters and three brothers. A memorial service at St. John 's United Methodist Church in Fort Mill.  Wolfe Funeral Home was serving the family. Pelham, Heyward Gibbes 86 years old, widower of Jean Timmons Pelham after 53 years of marriage, of 11 Lakecrest Drive, died March 15, 2006 at his home. Born in Newberry County, he was a son of the late Dr. William Ellerbe Pelham, Jr., and Azile Pool Pelham. Mr. Pelham served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Surviving were his daughter and son-in-law, Ann Pelham and Robert Cullen of Chevy Chase, Md.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William Heyward and Laura Pelham of Greenville, and Richard Timmons Pelham of Arlington, Va.; and four grandchildren, Peter Pelham Cullen, Catherine Mary Cullen, Mary Catherine Pelham and Anastasia Timmons Pelham. He was a retired employee of the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam. Henry was born Dec. 11, 1910, in Alton, Mo. to William and Grace (Cox) Pingleton. He was survived by his second wife of 61 years, Pearl B. (Tennant) Pingleton; five children and their spouses, Mona and Ray Wilcox of Wilbur, Ore., Mary and Jerry Aasen of Myrtle Point, Ore., Sharon and David Sturdivant of Coquille, Ore., Tom and Darleen Pingleton of Winston, Ore. and Bob and Grace Pingleton of Newberry; sisters, Martha Vranes and Pauline Bradshaw of Portland, Ore. and Josephine Bottoms of Oklahoma. Price, Julian Reginald Colonel died 3/29/2005 at Duke University Medical Center. Colonel Price was born in Prosperity on April 26, 1916 to the late Julian A. and Corrie Black Price. Drafted into the U.S. Army in January 1941, he was stationed in Europe during World War II and also served in the Korean War. He retired from the Army after earning the rank of Colonel in February 1961. Colonel Price was survived by his wife of 63 years, DeLancy S. Price of Durham, N.C.; his daughter, Brantlee Sontag and husband, Joel R., of DeSoto, Texas; his son-in-law, George Blair Martin of New Hill, N.C.; and four grandchildren, Wendy Martin Bennett of Cary, N.C., Erin Martin Perkinson of Arlington Heights, Ill., Russell Martin of Mooresville, N.C. and Julian Sontag of DeSoto, Texas; and four great grandchildren, Marc and Robert Bennett of Cary, N.C. and Payton and Reagan Perkinson of Arlington Heights, Ill. Price, Mildred “Millie” Boozer 81 years old, formerly of Newberry, wife of E. Lewis Price, died June 16, 2006 at J. F. Hawkins Healthcare. Mrs. Price was born on Sept. 30, 1924 in the Stoney Hill section of Newberry County, a daughter of the late James V. “Jim Bo” and Freddie Dawkins Boozer. Mrs. Price was survived by her husband of Newberry; a son, E. Lewis “Lewie” Price, Jr. of Newberry; a sister and brother-in-law, Julia Fay and Billy McSwain of Prosperity; and two grandchildren, Susannah Price and Brittany Price. Pruitt, Barbara M. Mrs. 62 years old, wife of J. Ned Pruitt, died Sept. 23, 2005 at the Medical College of Georgia. She was born in Oconee, S.C., was a long term resident of Dalton, Ga. and had lived in Augusta, Ga. for the past six years. Additional family members included her son, J. Ned Pruitt, II and wife, Ellen of Augusta, Ga.; daughter, Michelle P. Connelly and husband, Chad of Newberry; grandchildren, McCamy Pruitt, J. Ned Pruitt, III, Julia Pruitt, C. J. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of WW II. He was survived by a niece, Jennifer Hass of Raleigh; two nephews, Kenneth Pruitt, Jr. of Seneca and Lee McHugh of Tallahassee, Fla.; one great niece, Erin Pruitt; and three great nephews, Glenn Hass, Kenneth Pruitt, III, and Landrum Pruitt. Quattlebaum and wife Clyna of Prosperity and Jack S. Quattlebaum and wife Joyce of Lexington; a daughter-in-law, Ann Quattlebaum of Greenwood. She was predeceased by a daughter, Reba Q. Spradley; a son, Cy J. Quattlebaum; brothers, John Schumpert and Carl Schumpert; sisters, Doris Setzler and Annie Mae Cromer; and a great- granddaughter, Ashleigh Rebecca Shealy.
