Davidson, Willie 76 years old, of Philadelphia, Pa. died July 22, 2006. He was born in Newberry to the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Scurry. Later he was adopted and reared by the late C.D. and Nancy Davidson. He was a World War II veteran. His wife, Elmira Davidson, and one son, Jimmie Bernard Owens, preceded him in death. Surviving were four children, Henry Lee Davidson (Gwen) of Silverstreet, Sheila Highsmith, Edie Yvonne Owens (Charlie) and John Frank Owens, all of Philadelphia, Pa.; three brothers, Haskel Wertz of Philadelphia, Pa. and George Wertz and Curtis Wertz (Ida) of Newberry; five sisters, Estelle Oxner (Vernon) of Columbia, Mildred Crump, Lily Wertz, Veronica Singleton (Calvin) and Sally Cannon of Newberry; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including a very devoted friend, Oliver Harris of New York, N.Y. Davis, Beatrice "Bea" Kennerley 86 years old, formerly of Newberry, wife of James Henry Davis, died Sept. 1, 2004 at National Healthcare of Laurens. Mrs. Davis was born on Sept. 16, 1917, in the Mt. Bethel Garmany Community of Newberry County, a daughter of the late Francis John and Ethel Harriet Lietzsey Kennerley. Mrs. Davis wais survived by her husband of the home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Barbara Davis and Ralph Edgar Jones, Jr., of Mauldin, Diane Davis and Boyd "Buck" Webber of Lake Murray, and Linda Davis Byrd and fiance, James G. Hudson of Taylors; a son and daughter-in-law; James Kennerley "Ken" Davis and Amelia Monts Davis of Lancaster; a sister, Frances K. Smith of Springfield; a brother, Robert B. "Bob" Kennerley of Newberry; 11 grandchildren, Jerome Jones, Lee Shinn, Lori Anne McDonald, Michael Shinn, Sharon Cunningham, James Shinn, Melanie Shinn, Melinda Edwards, Susan Davis, Paige Byrd and Andy Davis; and nine great-grandchildren. Davis, Earl B. 84 years old, of Whitmire, died March 20, 2005 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Born in Saluda, he was a son of the late Bazzie and Mattie Padgett Davis. He was a retired Army Master Sergeant having served in World War II and the Korean War and was a recipient of three Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He was twice married, first to the late Marguerite Hamilton Davis and secondly to Celesten Stroud Davis who survived. In addition to his wife, he was survived by a son, Jimmie Davis of Newberry; daughters, Jean Phillips and Susan Stevens, both of Newberry; sisters, Yvonne Rodgers of Ward, Darlene Wilson of Leesville and Avice Cockrell of Saluda; brothers, Ronnie Davis and Roland Davis, both of Ward. He was a Marine veteran of WW II.He was survived by three daughters and two sons in-law, Barbara D. and Ralph Jones of Mauldin, Diane D. and Boyd "Buck" Webber of Prosperity and Linda D. Byrd and her fiancée, James G. Dickert, Elbert Jackson Jr., M.D., of  Newberry, died June 11, 2004, at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Dr. Dickert was born on Oct. 1, 1921, in Newberry County, a son of the late Elbert Jackson and Geneva Thornton Dickert. He was educated in the Newberry City Schools and was a graduate of Newberry College. In 1945, he received the doctor of medicine degree from Tulane University Medical School in New Orleans, LA. He served his internship at the Columbia Hospital of Richland County in Columbia. Following his internship, he served as a medical officer in the United States Army until his discharge as a captain in 1948. He was survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Layton of Newberry and children: Judge Neal Workman Dickert and Floride of Augusta, Ga., and David Layton Dickert and Barbara of Fenton, MO and grandchildren Neal Workman Dickert Jr. and wife, Rachel of Baltimore, Md., and John Elbert Dickert and Mary Catherine Dickert of Fenton, MO. Drumm, Harry Lincoln 80 years old, of Chapin, widower of Nellie Catheran Mack Drumm, died Feb. 21, 2005 at the Dorn VA Medical Center. Born in Holmes, Pa., he was a son of the late Harry Lincoln and Mary Murray Drumm. He was a World War II and Korean Conflict Army veteran for which he received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. Surviving were sons, Harry L. Drumm III and Mark W. Dufford, C. A. Jr., M.D., 83 years old, of Springfield Place, Newberry died Jan. 24, 2005, at his residence. Dr. Dufford was born July 10, 1921 in Kingstree, South Carolina, a son of the late C. A. Dufford, Sr. and Alma Cole Dufford. He was a 1942 graduate of Newberry College and entered the U. S. Army. Under an army program he received his medical degree with a specialization in pediatrics from The Medical College of South Carolina in 1945. After serving in his medical capacity in the army in Japan, he returned to complete a medical residency in Newark, N.J. and the old Columbia Hospital. Dr. Dufford began his practice in pediatrics in Newberry in 1950 and practiced until January 1997. Dr. Dufford was survived by his sister, Doris Dufford of Newberry and a brother, Dr. William E. (Bill) Dufford of Columbia. He was predeceased by a sister, Virginia Dufford. Interment was in Rosemont Cemetery. Whitaker Funeral Home, 1704 College St., Newberry assisted the family. Born in Washington County, Va. on April 9, 1932, he was the son of the late Roy and Ida Perkins Duncan. He served his country in the United States Air Force. In addition to his parents, his brothers, Glenn and Hugh Duncan also precede him in death. Survivors included one son, Donald Otis Duncan and wife Libby of Newberry; his companion and sweetheart, Gladys Farmer; step-children, Phillip D. Farmer of Abingdon, Neal Farmer and wife Donna of Lebanon, and Cathy D.
