Inabinet, Frances Sue Hardin Mrs. age 92 years old, wife of the late Charles Olin Inabinet, formally of Newberry and Charleston, died Oct. 6, 2008 at the Aiken Regional Medical Center in Aiken. She was born in Forest City, N.C. on June 26, 1916 to the late Frances Hutton Hardin and Robert Lee Hardin. She was predeceased by her step-mother, Lennie Vess Hardin; one daughter, Mary Ann Inabinet; four brothers, Charles M. Hardin, William S. Hardin, Leo G. Hardin and Cecil V. Hardin; and two sisters, Mary H. Gray and Lillian H. Zobel Wellborn. She is survived by her daughter, Linda I. Pack; son-in-law, Joseph O. Pack; three grandchildren, Jennifer P. (Patrick) McNamara, James D. (Lynn) Pack and Laurie P. (William) Reese; and four great-grandchildren, James D. Pack Jr., Victoria L. Pack, Hannah J. Reese and Lindsey S. Pack. She is also survived by her brothers, Jack T. Hardin and Alvin C. Hardin and her sister, Geraldine H. Glover. Burial was at Newberry Memorial Gardens. McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Inabinet, James C. 86 years old of Napa, Calif., died May 13, 2007. He was born in Saluda on Sept. 1, 1920. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor on the USS Vestal, and served for 34 years in the U.S. Navy until he retired in 1971. Survivors included his sons, Ken (Janice) Inabinet, Jim (Carolyn) Inabinet and Richard (Ruby) Lane; daughter, Judy (Ed) Cummings; grandchildren, Rachel, Natalie and Joe; one great grand daughter, Breanna; and a sister, Virginia Hattaway of Newberry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavonne Inabinet. A graveside, full military service was held with a 21 gun salute, folding and presentation of the American flag to his son, Ken at Sunrise Memorial Cemetery. Newberry Observer 5/30/2007

Jackson, Roy Donald 75 years old, formerly of Clyde, N.C. died at his home April 7, 2008. Mr. Jackson was born in Haywood County, N.C. on April 11, 1932 to the late John Samuel Jackson and the late Winnie Marie Crawford Jackson. He was a four veteran of the Unites States Navy having served during the Korean War. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jackson was predeceased by one brother, Fred Newell Jackson; three sisters, Evelyn Burris, Aileen Curtis and Jean Cogburn; and a granddaughter, Rachel Marie Jackson. He was survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Norris Jackson; two daughters, Donna (Jimmy) Kennedy of Raeford, N.C and Teresa (Chip) Parker of Chapin; two sons, Alan Jackson of Siler City, N.C. and Boyd Jackson (Vicky) of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Rebecca Jackson, Kristy and Brandon Kennedy, Jessica, Charlie and Jody Jackson, and Brooks and Weston Bickley and one great- grandchild, Taylor Canales. Jeffreys, Warren R. “Jeff” 88 years old, of Elon, N.C. died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Jan. 27, 2008, following five years of failing health. A native of Alamance County, N.C., he was the husband of the late Virginia May Jeffreys and the son of Charles R. Jeffreys and Mae Ehlert Jeffreys. Survivors included two daughters, Sandra Oliver and husband, Sidney, of Newberry and Jimma Causey and husband, Monty, of Elon, N.C.; four grandchildren, Jack Moon and wife, Monica, Michael Oliver, Chris Causey, Kevin Porter, and Greg Causey; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Tyler Moon. Jenkins,  William H. “Bill” of Lockhart SC, 81 years old, died Aug. 22, 2007. Mr. Jenkins was born on Oct. 15, 1925, in Union, County. He was a son of the late Norman H. And Carrie B. Jenkins. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II in Korea, Okinawa and the Philippines. Mr. Jenkins was survived by his wife of 59 years, Cora G. Jenkins; a son, David N. Jenkins and daughter-in law Cathy P. Jenkins of Newberry; his cherished grandchildren, Chase and Kelly J. Jenkins, Annie Mae McEntire age 102, died Oct. 26, 2009, at the Oaks at Scenic View. Born in Little Mountain on Jan. 13, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Johnny Norris and Florence Boland McEntire. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Frederick Jenkins and numerous brothers and sisters. Surviving were daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Richard Whitaker of Cornelia, Ga.; brother, Julian Norris McEntire of Kershaw; sister, Frances Bartley of Newberry. Jenkins, Jack Oliver 96 years old, of Newberry, widower of Elsie Dickson Jenkins, died Jan. 6, 2007, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Born in Anderson County he was a son of the late Ernest P. and Ruby Hunt Jenkins. He was survived by his daughter, Jenny Carlisle and her husband Ned of Newberry; two sisters, Ruth Ann Poore of Rock Hill and Mildred Ballew of Inman; two brothers, David Jenkins of Greenwood and Norman Jenkins of Cayce; three grandchildren, Chris Carlisle, Tim Carlisle and Suzanne Vick; and seven great-grandchildren, Sarah Carlisle, Ann-Marie Carlisle, Ned Vick, Joshua Carlisle, Jennifer Carlisle, Valerie Vick and Rachel Vick. Jennings, Coleman Culbreath of Newberry, wife of H. E. “Jack” Jennings, died Nov. 1, 2007, after a short time of care at The Gordon Hospice House of Statesville, N.C.  She was born Nov. 2, 1935, in Fairfield County to the late William T. Culbreath and Louise Long Culbreath. In addition to her parents, a brother, William T. Culbreath of Woodruff, and a sister, Martha C. Emory of Spartanburg, preceded her in death. In addition to her husband, survivors included a daughter, Jacquelynn Anne Jennings of Taylors; three sons and their wives, H. Jennings, Harmon Eugene age 83, of Newberry, widower of Mildred Frances Summers Jennings, died June 16, 2009 at his home. He was born in Newberry County, the son of the late Fred and Lillie Cook Jennings. He was a Navy veteran of WW II, was retired from Army National Guard and was a member of Roseboro Lodge #195. Surviving were his children, Harmon Eugene “Trigger” Jennings Jr. of Whitmire, William Jeff “Battie-Cat” Jennings of Mountville and Robbie Gregg Jennings of Whitmire; a brother, Ernest Gordon Jennings of Whitmire. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the 101st Airborne. Jeter, Jacqueline Lamatrell Wilson of Newberry, died Sept. 14, 2009 at MUSC. She was the daughter of the late Otis E. Wells Jr. and Authuree Crump Wilson. Lamatrell was born on May 31, 1964 in Newberry. She was survived by a husband, Ray A. Jeter; two daughters, Madison LaDorree Jeter and Kennedi Otisa Jeter; a doting brother, Michael (Cheryl) Wilson of Newberry; her affectionate sister, Demerias Wilson (Anthony) Dreher of Columbia, as well as Glenda (Aaron) Stephens and Katrina (Antonia) Emerson; mother-in-law, Dora Jeter of Newberry; and a father-in-law Lawrence Jeter of Carlise; brother-in-law, Lester Jeter of Newberry; and sisters-in-law, Cheryl (Charles) Stewart of Columbia and Patricia Wells of Newberry. She also leaves a multitude of friends who are grateful to have shared her life, especially Veronica Wilson-Rabb, Renethia Grines-Coleman and Jloundia Pinckney. Jones, Cecil Wilbur 89, died Oct. 3, 2009 at his home in Englewood, NJ. Cecil was born in Irmo on Nov. 12, 1919, son of Carey Wilbur Jones and Mattie Whitner Jones. He served in the United States Army and from l944-1946. Cecil became a part of history when he served in Okinawa. He and Carolyn Dennis Jones were married for 45 years. He was survived by his wife, Carolyn; sister, Juanita Morris; niece, Jacqueline Long (DJ Long); his lifelong friends, Harold Abrams (Olivia) and Eugene Singleton (Ethelyne). Jones, Elizabeth “Lib” Coates 71 years old, of Newberry, widow of Coy Jones Jr. died peacefully on Feb. 17, 2008, at the home of her daughter Millie in West Columbia. Mrs. Jones was born on Sept. 17, 1936 in Newberry, the youngest daughter of the late James Felton and Mildred Ryals Coates.
