Walker, Edith McDuffie 100, formerly of the Bush River section of Newberry County, died March 30, 2010 at the Presbyterian Home of South Carolina in Clinton. She was born in Dillon SC onNov. 26, 1909 to the late Dougal and Nora Miller McDuffie. Mrs. Walker was survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Walker, Jennie Caldwell age 93, of Whitmire, and widow of John Calhoun Walker died April 12, 2010 in the Wallace Thomson Hospital in Union. She was born in Newberry County, the daughter of the late Benjamin Haskell and Mattie Brown Caldwell. Mrs. Walker and her husband were married for 65 years. She was survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law; John Caldwell and Judy Walker of Hartsville, William Lynn Walker of San Antonio Texas, and Haskell Arthur Walker of Melbourne,Fla.; one grandson, Pearce Walker; a brother-in-law, A.H. (Buster) Walker Jr. She was predeceased by brothers Sims W. Caldwell, Alan J. Caldwell, Wylie H. Caldwell Sr., Richard Caldwell, and a sister, Elizabeth Caldwell. Wallace, Sarah C. Mrs. 97, died July 4, 2010, in Newark, N.J. She was born Dec. 14, 1912, in Whitmire to the late Rosa Coleman. On April 1, 1932 she married the late Kenneth Roy Wallace Sr.  and to that union five children were born. Welling, Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Predmore 75, of Newberry, died Sept. 22, 2010 at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home in Newberry of cancer. Betty was born in Augusta, Ga. on Dec. 24, 1934, the daughter of the late Zonnie B. and Nancy Lugenia “Genie” Horne Odom. She was twice married, first to the late Richard Predmore and then to the late Augustus A. Welling Jr. She was survived by her son, David Predmore; a daughter, Linda Predmore; her sister, Anne O. Wertz, Clara Danielsen 89, widow of Joe W. Wertz, died November 22, 2010, at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home. Born on July 1, 1921, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Alvin J. and Nettie Willingham Danielsen. Mrs. Wertz was the Rotarian Lay Person of the year in 1981, held the Ladies Championship Golf Title at Newberry Country Club for many years and was honored with having the activity center at Grant Homes named in her honor. She was honored with the Newberry Business and Professional Women of the Year in 1961, the Recipient of the Meritorious Service Medallion in 1962, the Book of Golden Deed Award in 1968 and the Special Membership in Women’s Society of Christian Service in 1971. She was survived by her sisters, Dorothy (Pete) Padgett of Atlanta, Ga., Frances Berry and Betty (Donnie) Layton both of Newberry; sisters-in-law, Frances Danielsen and Barbara Danielsen. Mrs. Wertz was predeceased by brothers, Ned, Jim and Guy Danielsen, a sister-in-law, Louise Danielsen, a brother-in-law, Casper Berry and a nephew, Larry Danielsen. Burial was in Rosemont Cemetery. Mr. Whitener was a United States Air Force veteran. Surviving were his loving wife, Ethel M. Wicker, Herman Graham 85, of Newberry, died Aug. 24, 2010, atNewberryCounty Memorial Hospital. Born in Pomaria on Jan. 24, 1925, he was the son of the late Ernest Oliver and Mary Viola Graham Wicker. He was an Army veteran of World War II having served in the 95th Infantry Division in Germany. Yon, Thomas Earl 65, died Dec. 13, 2010. Born April 6, 1945, in Newberry, a son of Ruth Willingham Yon and the late Edward Pearson Yon. He was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church; a charter member of the Newberry Moose Lodge where he was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, and the Legion of the Moose. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #87 AFM, the York Rites Bodies and was a Shriner. Surviving in addition to his mother, Ruth Yon of Newberry were his wife, Judy Hinson Yon; daughters, Angela Hope (Rob) Erhardt of Little Mountain, Amy Lynn (Barry) Shealy and Amanda Ruth (Tommy) Yon-Price both of Newberry; grandchildren, Joshua Erhardt, Jessica Erhardt, Dakota Erhardt, Jenna Shealy, Jacob Shealy, Josie Price, and Devin Price.
