Cain, James Richard “Ricky” 56, died March 18, 2012, at his residence. Born on May 26, 1955, in Newberry, he was a son of Mabel Lindler Cain and the late William F. Cain. He was survived in addition to his mother by a son, Christopher James (Kayla) Cain of Whitmire; a daughter, Tammy Michelle (Timothy) Taylor of Whitmire; a sister, Judy Fowler of Prosperity; brothers, Freddie Cain of Prosperity and Thomas Cain of Newberry and five grandchildren. Carr, Ingrid Maxwell 68, of Prosperity, SC, died December 22, 2012, at her residence. Mrs. Carr was born on Sept. 12, 1944 in Freiburg/Breisgau, Germany, a daughter of the late Wilhelm Eugen and Else Wellenreuther Willig. She was a retired systems analyst for the State of S.C and was a very active member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and the Thomas Suber Circle of the WELCA. Mrs. Carr loved singing and was an active participant with the Arpad Darazs Singers and the Newberry Community Choir She volunteered her time at Gallman Elementary School and as an Ombudsman with the Friendly Visitor Program at local nursing homes. She was survived by her husband of 22 years, Byron Carr of the home; daughters, Patti (Andy) McConnell of Jenison, Mich., and Debbi Minton of Lexington; stepdaughter DebiLynn Carr of Arlington, Va.; sons Bill Maxwell of Monroe, La., Robert (Shannon) Maxwell of Lexington; stepson, Byron Carr Jr. of Florence. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Bill Maxwell. Interment was at the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Columbia. Newberry Observer 12/24/2012

Catalano, Bennie Lee “Missy” Glenn 87, widow of Archie Catalano, died March 6, 2012, at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home. Born on Oct. 19, 1924, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late John and Bennie Tillman Livingston. She is survived by her daughters, Toni McCullough of Pomaria and Christena Vitkovich of NY. He was a member of Chappells Masonic Lodge No. 1 and was a World War II Army Veteran. Surviving were nephews, James R. Lindsay of Hodges, Mr. K.C. Williams (Mazella) of Cross Hill; niece, Doris Williams of Greenwood; a host of cousins including Lilly Mae Harmon of Greenwood and Willie B. Boyce of Chappells. Clamp, Eva Walker 94, of Newberry, widow of James V. Clamp Sr. died March 25, 2012, at her home. Mrs. Clamp was born in Wray, Ga. to the late George Dixon and Lillie Davis Walker. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of the Newberry County Historical Society, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Fine Arts Club. Collins, Glenda Ruth 65, died April 14, 2012, at Palmetto Health Richland. Born on Feb. 14, 1947, in Clovis, N.M., she was a daughter of Glenn and Ruth Winegeart Holland. She was reared in Fort Sumner, N.M. On June 6, 1965 in Fort Sumner, she married Bill Collins. They made their home in South Carolina for the past 45 years. She was survived by her husband, William W. Collins Jr.; a son, William W. A daughter of the late Luther Morris and Allie Mae Miller, she was born in Newberry and had lived in Aiken County since 1951. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Edward Connelly and a son, Bobby Eugene Connelly. Conner, Cliff died at his home in Newberry May 27, 2012. Mr. Conner was born on Aug. 13, 1930 in Newberry. He was an U.S. Army veteran where he served his country as a Staff Sergeant of Combat Engineers in the Korean War. Counts, Dorothy Nichols Mitchell 90, died Oct. 24, 2012, at White Oak Manor. Born on April 4, 1922, in Prosperity, she was a daughter of the late Newton Arthur and Martha Sease Nichols. Mrs. Counts was survived by sons, Wayne L. (Cathy) Mitchell of Newberry and Jerry Newton (Bobbie Sue) Mitchell of Chappells. Mrs. Counts married first to the late Ralph Lester Mitchell and secondly to the late Julian Lanier Counts. She was predeceased by her special friend, Hubert Graham and was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been predeceased by three sisters and four brothers. Counts, Helen Cubbison Ragsdale widow of James W. Counts, passed away on Nov. 7, 2012, at the age of 89 years. Mrs. Counts was born on Nov. 7, 1923 in Blair, the daughter of the late Claude Hunter Ragsdale and Alice Coward Ragsdale. She was a graduate of Monticello High School and Winthrop College. Mrs. Counts was married to the late James Wedaman Counts for 63 years. Surviving were her daughter, Alicia C. Blair (and son-in-law, Bob) of Blair and Tracey C. Hunter (and son-in-law Bobby) of Silverstreet. Also surviving her are four grandchildren, Allison Blythe Blair, Beverly Wylie Parham (Chris), Nathan James Hunter, and Hollie Helen Hunter. She also has two great-grandchildren, Beverly and Coleman Whitesides of Irmo. She was predeceased by six of her siblings, Claude H. Ragsdale Jr., Marjorie Weaks, Virginia Davis, Beverly Rice, John Knox Ragsdale, and James (Sam) Ragsdale. Danielowski, Casimir Frank Sr., 87, died Oct. 19, 2012, at Palmetto Health Richland. Born on Feb. 13, 1925, in Minooka, Pa., he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Suchdolski Danielowski. He was a Sergeant First Class with the U.S. Army and served in Italy during World War II and twice in Korea, once being in Berlin, Germany. Born in Newberry, he was a son of the late Mr. Henry Davis and the late Mrs. Anna Jonell Long Davis. He was a member of Old Beaverdam Baptist Church in Newberry. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, a former member of the 40 & 8, the Newberry Moose Lodge and the Legion of the Moose.
