Ms. Sanders was predeceased by a brother, Jesse J. Sanders. Surviving were her mother, Jessie Harmon Sanders; sisters, Carolyn E. Sanders of Newberry; Sharon Sanders-Harper of Laurens; faithful companion, Daniel Glasgow; nephews, Terrence, Jarvis, Jason Sanders; niece, Jheron Nicole Sanders; devoted friend, Dorothy Dudley; sister-in-law, Sheila Sanders; brother-in-law, Julian Harper. Sanders, Robert Jean Sr., Mr. 73, affectionately known as “BLK Bob,” of Errol, N.H., died suddenly on, July 1, 2012, in Guildhall, Vt., doing one of the things that he loved the most - riding his motorcycle. He was born in Newberry, on April 6, 1939, a son to the late Thomas Jefferson Sanders Sr., and Henrietta (Henderson) Sanders. Surviving were his children, Katherine Sanders and husband Moses Boulden of Berlin, N.H., Robert G. Sanders Jr. and Anthony Sanders of Newberry, Kerry Sanders of Hawaii, Tony Sanders of New York, N.Y., and Gwendolyn Sanders-Parker of Buffalo, N.Y.; his stepchildren, Wayne Garrow and wife Wanda of Errol, Joseph Garrow and wife Kat of Burlington, Vt., and Deborah Carr of Ala.; his former wife and long-time friend and companion, Ruby Edwards of Florida; three sisters, Sarah Broome of Nashua, N.H., Minnie Young of Providence, R.I., and Ruby Wertz and husband Johnny of Detroit, Mich.; friends Dorothy of Newberry, and Roberta of New York, N.Y.; his 24 grandchildren, Jaimie, Kyle, Keith, Sylvia-Jo, Shamika, Sharelle, Shakia, Hernasia, Herbert, Sharina, Toray, Tony Jr., Mykil, Kristal, Chandel, Eric, Andrew, Shiloh, Shana, John, Robert III, Paige Monique, Brooke, and McKenzie. Satterwhite, Richard Earl 88, widower of Janie Shealy Satterwhite, died Jan. 11, 2012, at White Oak Manor. He was born in Newberry on May 15, 1923 to the late Frank M. and Estelle Teague Satterwhite. Mr. Satterwhite served in the Army 88th Infantry Division in Italy during World War II as a PFC. He was survived by a sister-in-law, Dorothy L. Satterwhite. He was predeceased by all of his siblings. Saville, Wayne 78, husband of Becky Gable Saville, died Jan 25, 2012. Born March 9, 1933 in Clearwater, he was the son of the late Ralph and Anderine Saville and stepson of Rebecca Saville. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Los Angeles during the Korean Conflict. Surviving were his wife of 34 years; his sons, Robert L. (Teresa) Saville of Chapin, Ronald G. (Leslie) Saville of Chapin; his daughter, Wanda Boland of Chapin; his brother, William Ronald (Bonnie) Saville of Columbia; his sisters, Linda (Walter) Harris of Aiken, Betty Jo Lynch of Lawrenceville, Ga., Florence (Bill) Horner of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Robert W. Saville, Ashley Saville, Lauren Boland and Christian Saville; special nieces, Margie Gable Saville and Kim Gable Jolly. Schumpert, Margaret “Peggy” Hutchinson widow of Robert Dennis “Bob” Schumpert died Dec. 19, 2012, at Palmetto Richland Heart Hospital. Mrs. Schumpert was born in Chester, a daughter of the Late Cyril McKeene and Mary Sue Stuckey Hutchinson. She was survived by her four children and their spouses Susan McKeene Schumpert, R. Young and Cindy Schumpert, Lucia M. and Randall Renwick, and Claude H. and Melissa Schumpert. She was predeceased by a daughter, Dennis S. Byrd. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Travis Renwick, Nicholas Renwick, Alexis (Robert) Bayer, Lindsay Schumpert, Lara Lee Schumpert, Kelsey Byrd, Austin Byrd, Ashton Schumpert, and Logan Schumpert, as well two great-grandchildren, Dainton Byrd and Emma Racine. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Sue Clary, an aunt Margie Stuckey of Hartsville, a cousin Suzanne Smith of Rock Hill. She was also predeceased by a sister-in-law, Claudia S. Seay, Varie Elizabeth Sanders Miller 90, of Kempson Bridge Road, Saluda, died Dec. 2, 2012, at Lexington Medical Center, Lexington. Born Feb. 12, 1922 in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late James Otto and Sallie Elizabeth Schumpert Sanders. Her first husband was Smith Harold Miller and second husband was Virley Haston Seay. She was a resident of West Columbia from 1948 to 1977. She was the last surviving member of the 1939 class of Hollywood High School. She was predeceased by a son, H. Dale Miller on Oct. 16, 2012; sisters, Helen Sanders Nichols and Ruby Lee Sanders Gibson; and a brother, James B. Sanders. She was survived by her children and their spouses, Sonja M. (Harry) Huggins of Hemingway, Barbara Miller of Newberry, Glenn C. Miller (Patricia Kekas) of Spartanburg, Don Miller of Lexington, Cheryl M. (Murvis) Mims of Turbeville, Janet M. Senn, Jimmie Lee S/SGT USMC, 34, husband of Billie Jo “BJ” Senn, died Jan. 14, 2012, in North Carolina. Funeral. at the Marine Corps Air Station Chapel with interment in Beaufort National Cemetery with full military honors. Jimmie was born on Jan. 22, 1977, in Newberry. He is the son of Martin (Dee) Senn of Newberry, and Linda (Pops-Butch) Rumsey of Myrtle Beach. Surviving in addition to his wife, BJ of Pollocksville, N.C.; are three daughters, Kaitlyn, Lexie and Alyssa Senn of Mississippi; four stepsons, Seth, Caleb, Dustin and Matthew; three brothers, John Senn, Jeremy (Jennifer) Senn and Jamie (Lacey) Senn. Shealy, Connie Adams 96, widow of Curtis M. “Rabbit” Shealy, died Feb. 5, 2012, at White Oak Manor. Born on Aug. 5, 1915, in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late James Thomas and Mamie Goff Adams. She was survived by daughters, Elaine (Roy) Shealy Franklin of Newberry and Alice (Brice) Shealy Boozer of Prosperity; a sister, Mina Moore of Lexington; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn M. Shealy, Kathleen Frick 99, widow of Eugene Shealy, died March 28, 2012, at J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home. Born on December 17, 1912, in Little Mountain, she was a daughter of the late Wilber Roland Frick and Nina Catherine Riddle Frick. Mrs. Shealy is survived by a sister, Alda Cannon of Little Mountain and a sister-in-law, Nettie Frick of Little Mountain. She was predeceased by brothers, J. E. Frick and Carl Frick. Shealy, Paul Edward died at Newberry County Memorial Hospital on March 17, 2012, with complications with pneumonia. Born on Jan. 4, 1921, in Prosperity, he was a son of the late Ethon Jacob and Alice Elise Richardson Shealy. Paul served as a military policeman in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Hejaz Shrine Club and Prosperity Masonic Lodge # 115. He was survived by his wife of 70 years, Vera Kinard Shealy; a son, Stanley (Suzanne) Edward Shealy; two granddaughters, Steffanie (Michael) Shealy Shinn and Julie (Toby) Shealy Smith; great-grandchildren, Jonathon and Jordan Shinn, and Emma, Rachel, Rhett and Grant Smith; two sisters, Louise Shealy Lindler and Nelva Shealy Lindler; a niece, Pamela Lindler DeHart, and former daughter-in-law, Judy Sebesta, all from Prosperity. He was a retired mail carrier from the U. S. Postal Service and a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. Surviving was his wife Ruby Lester Shealy; sons Roger Dale Shealy and wife Susan of Spartanburg, Clayton Shealy of Alabama, Daniel Shealy of Asheville, N.C.; sisters Ruth Frick of Charlotte, N.C., Reba Lester of Newberry. Suber Sr. and Edna Leitzsey Suber. Smith, Helen Bridgers Parker died July 30, 2012, at the Presbyterian Community of South Carolina in Lexington. Born on Sept. 5, 1914, in Jackson, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Dr. Carl Putnam and Bertha Joyner Parker of Seaboard, NC. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence McKittrick Smith, whom she married on March 22, 1947. She and her husband were residents of Newberry for 43 years. Survivors include her children, Caroline Smith Head (David) of Midlothian, Va., and James William McKittrick “Jim” Smith (Pam Troutman) of Raleigh, N.C.; grandchildren, Elizabeth Caroline Head, Michael McKittrick Head, Susan Elaine Head all of Midlothian, Va.; sisters-in-law, Martha Parker of Seneca and Margaret Parker of Salisbury, N.C. He served as Deputy and County Coroner for approximately 25 years. He was survived by his wife, Brenda S. Smith; two sons, Dustin (Sarah) Smith of Lexington and Ashley (Amanda) Smith of Columbia; four grandchildren, Isabel, Sam and Lucy Smith of Lexington, and Norah Kate Smith of Columbia; five sisters, Evelyn S. Snider, Billie Williams 80, beloved Nana and Granny died at the home of her daughter, Bobbie, Oct. 24, 2012. She was the widow of the late James Robert “Bob” Snider and was the daughter of the late Algie E. and Sallie W. Williams. Survivors included two daughters, Dana Lee S. Stewart, Ben Pressley Sr., 90, died Feb. 28, 2012, at Providence Hospital. He was born on Jan. 27, 1922, to Ben Price Stewart and Sallie Emma Boozer Stewart. After graduating from Chappells High School in 1939, Ben served in the U.S. Navy during WWII form 1942-1945 and saw action in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. He received the Bronze Star, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, and the American Campaign Medal. Upon returning from the war, he married Gaynelle (Nelle) Harmon in 1946 and began working for Purcells in 1947. In 2009, Ben retired from Purcells as vice president. He enjoyed being a deacon at Aveleigh Presbyterian Church. Ben P. Stewart Sr., was survived by his three children: Ben P. Stewart Jr., (wife, Judi), Gay S. Durham (husband, Dwight), and Joy S. Whisenant (husband, Michael); and his grandchildren: Allen Edmundson, Holiday Durham, Mack Durham, Carolyn Durham, Avery Whisenant, Sarah Whisenant, Hannah Whisenant, and Idah Whisenant. Stockman, Henry Hubert 89, widower of Winifred Shealy Stockman, died April 8, 2012, at White Oak Manor. Born on Aug. 4, 1922, in Prosperity, he was a son of the late John Henry and Blanche Bowers Stockman. He was a volunteer fire fighter for Fairview Fire Department for over 40 years where he served as Assistant Fire Chief. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. He was a former Mason, Shriner, Silverstreet volunteer fireman and Silverstreet town councilman. Swank, Patricia “Pat” 74, a long time resident of Margate, Fla. and now a recent resident of Prosperity, died Dec. 5, 2012. Pat battled with cancer for several years and defied all odds as she was only given four months to live in February 2011. Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her eldest son, Russell Buddie.
