In the name of God, Amen! I Robert Butler of Newberry District and State of South Carolina, being indisposed and ill of body but of sound mind and disposing memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament, as follows

In the first place I freely submit my soul to God its author; & my body I desire may be buried by my friend, at the expense of my estate in a decent Christian like manner.

Item. I will & bequeath to my dear and loving wife Emily, all and singular, the good & chattels, and every, piece & species of property, which beloned to her previous to, and which IU obtained with her at our marriage. I also will and bequeath to her (my wife Emily) my bay horse called Marcus, I also will and bequeath to my wife Emily, the tract of land on which I now live, containing one hundred acres, for her to live on, rent, or use as she may think proper, and for her to appropriate the profits arising therefrom, to her sole use and advantage; until my three children shall have come of age.

It is my will, wish and desire, that the whole of my property, of every discription, (not above specified) be sold as early as convenient, on a credit of nine months; that all my Just debts, be paid out of the monies arising from the sale of said property; and the balance of said money be it more or lefs to go into the hands of my loving wife Emily to be hers and hers only, and to be disposed of by her as she may think proper.

In testimony wherof I set my hand & seal this 18th day of February, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and thirty three and fifty seventh of American Independence
