Smyrna is located about six miles from Newberry on the Belfast Road It was organized in 1839 by the Rev. R. C. Ketchum and the Rev. M. D. Fraser. The original members came from the Boozer, Senn, and Clary families. Three sons from this church gave to the ministry: Rev. John I. Boozer, Rev. Fred Boozer, and Rev. Woodorw Hassell. The church houses a cemetery.
