PICKENS COUNTY ALABAMA 1907 CONFEDERATE CENSUS
 
Full name:  EZEKIEL HAWKINS. Present post office: Kennedy, Ala., RFD 2; Was born on Aug. 19, 1832 in the county of Spartanburg in the state of SC; first entered the service as private on Apr 1862 at Antioch, Ala., in the Co. H., 5th Ala. Inft. and continued until captured July 4 in Pennsylvania - Paroled Feb. 18, 1865
 

Full name: JOHN THOMAS KEETING.  Present post office: Reform, Ala. ; Was born on Mch 27, 1843 at Spartanburg in the county of Spartanburg in the state of SC; First entered the service as private on Mch 18, 1861 at Antioch, Ala., in the Co. H., 5th Ala. and continued until Mch 19, 1865; captured at Gettysburg July 3, 1863; Paroled Feb. 14, 1865 - Was paroled at Look Out Mountain Feb. 14, 1865.

WALKER COUNTY ALABAMA 1907 CONFEDERATE CENSUS

Full Name:  ATKINS, WILLIAM; Present post office address: Nauvoo, Ala. Was born on May 11, 1837 at Spartanburg in the county of Spartanburg District in the state of South Carolina; first entered the service as private on April 1, 1862 at Pinkneyville, Ala., in the Company C (Capt. N. G. Slaughter) 10th Ala. Calvary and continued until mustered out at Charlotte N. C., May 3, 1865 – wounded at Tunnel Hill, Ga. in the fall of 1864

Full Name:  DRUMMOND, THOMAS MADISON    Present post office address: Jasper, Ala, RFD 1  Was born on August 25, 1839 at Spartanburg in the county of Spartanburg District in the state of South Carolina; first entered the service as private in Sept 1862 – volunteered at Jasper, Ala, and went to command in the Company F (Capt John D. Winston) 38th Ala. Infantry and continued until some time in January 1863, I came home on my own hook and staid a few days over a year and was carried back to the command and staid till July 1864 and left the command and went to the state of Indiana and remained till the war closed.

Full Name:  DRUMMOND, WILLIAM HARRISON,  Present post office address: Jasper, Ala., RFD 1 Was born on Oct. 2, 1837 near Spartanburg  in Spartanburg District in the state of South Carolina; first entered the service as blacksmith for community in which I lived at beginning of war – having been selected as such by the authorities and continued until about October 1864.  Enlisted as private in Oct. 1864 at Arkadelphia Ala. in the Company B. (Capt John Wharton) 8th Ala. Calvary and continued until January 1865 and came home and resumed my job as blacksmith for the community and served till war closed.  Was never paroled.

Full Name: MCDADE, JAMES DECATUR  Present post office address: Carbon Hill, Ala., Was born on March 29, 1828 at Spartanburg in the Spartanburg Dist in the state of South Carolina; first entered the service as private in fall of 1863 at Jasper, Ala., in the Company B (Whatleys) 10th Ala. Calvary and continued until J. D. Enis made up a company and I was transferred in fall of 1863 in the Company K (Capt T. D. Enis) 10th Ala. Calvary and continued until close of war – was paroled at Jasper, Ala. in May 1865

Full Name: SMITH, LEONIDAS KIRKSEY  Present post office address: Prospect, Ala.  Was born on April 8, 1838 at Spartanburg in the county of Spartanburg District in the state of South Carolina; first entered the service as private on Sept 1862 at jasper, Ala. in the Company H (Johnson) Hewlett’s battalion 56th Ala. Calvary and continued until close of war  - was paroled at Jasper Ala. after the surrender

WINSTON COUNTY ALABAMA 1907 CONFEDERATE CENSUS

Ballender, Calvin: Present Post Office address: Browns Creek, Alabama; born 7 Dec 1832 at Spartenburg in Spartanburg County South Carolina; first entered the service as Private on 22 Feb 1862 at Hampton South Caroline in 22nd South Carolina Volunteer Company H and continued until I was transferred. Re-enlisted as Lieutenant in May 1862 at Charleston, South Carolina in 22nd South Volunteer Company H and continued until 186? when, after the surrender, my Company was dismissed. Have my commission as Lieutenant.

Fortenberry, William Gaston; Present Post Office address: Addison, Alabama; born 13 Jun 1842 at Spartanburg in Spartanburg County, South Carolina; first entered the service as Private on 17 Aug 1861 at Huntsville, Alabama in 19th Alabama Infantry, Company H and continued until 15 Dec 1864, when I was wounded at Nashville Tennessee being captured on said date, remaining a prisoner until 27 May 1865, when I was exchanged, after which I was paroled at Natchez, Mississippi on 28th May 1865. No papers. (13 Jun 1843-27 Feb 1929; buried Sardis No. 2 Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery)

MARION COUNTY ALABAMA 1907 CONFEDERATE CENSUS

Full Name: BARNETT, JOHN B. Present post office address: Glen Mary, Ala. was born on 29th Nov. 1826 in the District of Spartingburg in the state of South Carolina; first entered the service as private on summer of 1861 at Coosa County Ala. in the 17th Ala Inf.  Co. D. and continued until transferred to a co of engineering troops – don’t know the letter of co. don’t remember  no. of regiment or date of transfer.  Discharged at close of war.
