"Missing in Action over Germany since December 5th"  was the poignant message received by Mrs. Ben Barnes of Pierre and transmitted to Lt. Ben Barnes' parents Mr. and Mrs. Herman Barnes of Miller this afternoon.  Commissioned a Lieutenant at West Point in June 1943, Lt. Barnes took his flying training on Texas fields and went overseas late this summer.  His first assignment was piloting a Thunderbolt; later he was assigned a B-51 fast pursuit plane.  Mrs. Ben Barnes was the former Clara Lumley of Pierre.
