Hughes County, South Dakota
The County Seat is Pierre
The county was created in 1873 and organized in 1880. It was named for Alexander Hughes, a legislator.
Capitol building c. 1940
Cities: Blunt and Pierre (county seat)
Unincorporated Community: Canning
The county contains three areas of unorganized territory: West Hughes, North Hughes, and Crow Creek.
