    John Brakeman's [Brickman] eight-month old baby boy died Monday after a short illness.  The parents live eight miles southwest.

John Brickman

John Brickman, 48, of Witten, S.D., died March 23, 1916 in a Sioux City Hospital of heart disease. Mr. Brickman was born in Elt Alft, Bessarabia, Russia. John is survived by his wife Mathilda (Ring) and two sons John and Reinhold, at homel and five daughters, all still at home, Catherine, Bertha, Edith, Frieda and Martha; his mother Christine Brickman and several sisters and brothers. He was preceded in death by two sons, and his father. John married Mathilda Ring in Alt Elft, Bessarabia, Russia in 1887. John was a farmer and he lived and worked in the areas of Witten, Colome, Presho and Naper. Burial was at Old Witten with the Rev. Wm. Fettinger officiating.
