Lightning struck the large barn on the farm occupied by Charles Schantz, northeast of Carthage, and it was burned to the ground. No stock was in the barn at the time, but a buggy and harness together with a large amount of hay were destroyed.

The Roswell Commercial club, which was reorganized Monday when the men of the community assembled in the Methodist Episcopal church, plans extensive civic improvements and the carrying forward of many projects for social betterment. The new officials are: O. H. Burk, president; C. C. Taylor, vice president, and Leon R. Johnson, secretary-treasurer.
