Flandreau, S.D., March 2. – Walter Murphy of Troy township, Pipestone county, died at his parents’ home as the result of an accident. A tumbling rod of a feed mill broke. A broken piece hit Walter, who was about ten feet away in a wagon box, striking him with terrific force and crushing his skull. He was nineteen years of age.

Flandreau, S.D. – H. B. Walton, 83 years old, Civil war veteran and resident of Flandreau since 1887, died at his home here.

Flandreau, Mar. 12. – Wm. Severance, aged 40 years, died at his home in this city Friday, after a lingering illness of pneumonia. Deceased was one of Moody county’s early settlers, coming here with his parents in 1877. He leaves a family consisting of a wife and three little girls. At the time of his death he held the position of rural route mail carrier. His parents live at Gentry, Ark., a sister here, and a brother at Douglas, N.D.

The wife of D. J. Haugeberg, register of deeds of Moody county, died last week. She had been an invalid for nearly six years, during which time she was unable to leave her bed without assistance.

Flandreau, Oct. 21. – Hosea Locke, a resident of Flandreau some years ago died at his home at Kenwood park, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, yesterday. Mr. Locke was pastor of the M. E. church here for several years, then entered the Indian school here, but for the last 16 years up to June he was superintendent of the Fort Hall Indian school at Fort Hall, Idaho. He was 80 years old. The remains are being shipped here. A wife and daughter survive.
