Aquilla Cemetery
Sanborn County, SD

Notes : Aquilla was apparently abandoned a long time ago. It lies in the SW quadrant of the intersection and is covered by 1 or more large clumps of brush (mostly lilac). By walking the perimeter of one of the clumps one can see a 1.5 ft concrete slab embedded in the soil, and next to it a roughly-hewn rectangular block of stone. The real treasure is on the west side where one can see a "pylon"-type headstone lying on the ground with its' base nearby. The information is listed below, and the pylon is too heavy for 1 person to move, so it is not known if the pylon face in contact with the ground has anything else.

There are a couple of horizontal slabs in the bushes which tells me of former residents.
