JAMES PATRICK SUTTON

(1915-> US Representative from Tennessee; born on a farm near Wartrace, Bedford County, Tennessee, October 31, 1915; attended the public schools of Wartrace, Tennessee, and Cumberland University Law School, Lebanon, Tennessee; graduated from Middle Tennessee State College at Murfreesboro in 1939; enrolled in the United States Navy, 1942-1946; awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, Purple Heart with oak leaf cluster; elected as a Demo crat to the Eighty-first, Eighty-second, and Eighty-third Congresses (January 3, 1949-January 3, 1955); unsuccessful candidate for the Democratic nomination for United States Senator in 1954; investment securities broker.
