JAMES W. RAY , 84, became ill Saturday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Hensley, at Sim's Spring, and requested to be carried to the home of his son, Ben Ray with whom he lived. Enroute he passed away before a doctor could be secured. Funeral services were conducted at Crowell's Chapel Sunday at 3 p.m., by Rev. A.D. Nichols, with interment in the Crowell's Church cemetery. Survivals are two daughters, Mrs. H. P. Locke and Mrs. Frank Hensley, three sons, Tom, Ben and A.C. Ray, a number of grand children and two great grand children. His wife preceded him in death six years ago.

ELIZA (STEWART) REED , 84, of Belfast died Sept 22. Funeral at Bedford on the 24th by Rev. Rich and burial was in the Reed cemetery. She leaves a son, Dr. Will Reed, who has been with her all the time, a daughter, Mrs. Annie Reed Himes, a great granddaughter, Mrs. Jimmy Dillard and two grandsons. Also surviving are a niece, Mrs. Edna Woodard; a nephew, Jim Kellar both of whom she reared when their mother died may years ago.

ELLA (RUCKER) REED - Funeral services for Mrs. Lee Reed of Longview were held at the residence Thursday morning at ten o'clock, the Rev. Graves, pastor of the Enon church, officiating. The burial was in the family graveyard. Mrs. Reed, who was Miss Ella Rucker prior to her marriage, was a member of a well known Bedford county family and a woman of many excellent traits of character. She had been a member of the Primitive Baptist church for a number of years. She is survived by her husband, three sons, Brooks, Howard and John L. Reed; a sister, Mrs. Emma Morton, of Shelbyville.

HENRY WISEMAN REED - Funeral services for Henry W. Reed, 65, who had been in declining health for some time and died Wednesday, Nov 16, 1938 at the local hospital, were held Thursday at the Thompson Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. E. H. Stout, and Rev. B. E. B. Dees. Burial was in the Reed Cemetery. Mr. Reed was a farmer and highly respected by all who knew him. Surviving are three brothers, Mitchel Reed of Nashville, Charlie and James Reed of this community.

JAMES G. REED , 78 died early Wednesday morning, August 12, after a serious illness of several weeks, though he had been disabled because of rheumatism for four years. Funeral services were conducted at Thompson's Funeral Home Thursday morning by Rev. E. H. Stout. Interment was in Willow Mount cemetery. Mr. Reed was a member of the Christian Church. Survivals are his wife and two sons, two daughters, and one sister, the latter of Lewisburg. (not named)

JOHN A. REED - Funeral services for John A. Reed, 47 who died at the Bedford County hospital Thursday, were held at the Thompson Funeral Home Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. N.J. Warren, pastor of the First Presbyterian church officiated. The burial was in the Holland Graveyard. The deceased is survived by two children, a daughter, Miss Ethel Reed and a son, William Reed; a sister, Mrs. Albert Martin; three brothers, William, James and Walter.

MARY REED - Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Loyd Reed, wife of the late Bill Reed, who died Thursday night at her home on the Horse Mountain road were conducted Friday afternoon at the Church of Christ, Elder A. R. Hill officiating, assisted by H. Leo Boles, evangelist. Burial was in Willow Mount Cemetery. She is survived by two sons, John and Dock Reed; three daughters Miss Yvonne Reed, Mrs. Red Stewart and Mrs. Ernest Reed Barrett; three step sons, John, Tom and Hutton Reed, two step-daughters, Mrs. N. T. Gregory and Mrs. R. C. Overcast of Shelbyville.

MIKE REED , aged 64, died Sunday at the home of his sister, Miss Dainty Reed, on the Fairfield pike. Funeral services were held Monday at two o'clock at the Hoover Funeral Parlors, conducted by Rev. J. T. Parsons, pastor of the M. E. Church, South. The burial was in Willow Mount cemetery. He was a good friend and neighbor. Mr. Reed is survived by a sister, Miss Dainty Reed and a brother Tom Reed.

NANCY MARIAH (CANNON) REED widow of John T. Reed, deceased, died suddenly of heart failure Sunday morning, Dec. 23, at the home of her son, Mr. G. W. Reed, a few miles from Shelbyville on the Tullahoma pike. She was in her usual health and rising from her chair to hand her grandson an apple, fell and expired in an instant. She was 77 years old and leaves four children. She was a member of the Separate Baptist Church at Thompson's Creek and buried at New Hope Cemetery"

THOMAS O. REED , 62, died Friday, at 7:30 p.m., at the local hospital where he had been for more than two months suffering with dropsy. Mr. Reed was a patient and uncomplaining patient, radiating cheerfulness and a Christian fortitude through out his entire illness. All who came in contact with him felt the better for having known him. He was a faithful member of the Himesville Nazarene church where the funeral was held Saturday at 2 p.m., Rev. E. C. Dees and Rev. E. H. Stout Conducting. Burial was in the New Hope cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ivy Brown Reed, their daughters, Mrs. Paul Clay, Miss Margaret Reed, Miss Marie Reed, Miss Christine Reed, Miss Louise Reed; sons, Lewis Raymond and Lonnie Reed, and several grandchildren, all of this county. By his first wife, the late Mrs. Ruth Woosley Reed, there were three children, Mrs. Houston Sudberry, Carl Reed and Guy Reed.

W. LEE REED - Funeral services for W. Lee Reed, 76, who died Thursday at his home in the Longview community were held at the home Friday morning at 11 o'clock, Rev. Neal Graves, Primitive Baptist minister of Eagleville, officiating. Burial was in the Finney Cemetery. Mr. Reed had been ill for several months. He is survived by three sons, Brooks, John L., and Howard, and six grandchildren.

MRS. C.N. RICE - Passes At Home Here Mrs. Hattie Green Rice, 81, wife of the late Chas. N. Rice, Sr., died at her home here Friday at 2 p.m. following a few days of critical illness though she had been in declining health for some time. Mrs. Rice was a member of a prominent pioneer family of this county, the daughter of the late B. G. and Selina Green. She had spent her entire life in this section where she had a large circle of friends and acquaintances. She was a woman of many fine traits of character and was interested in civic and religious activities of the community. She had been a member of the Christian Church since youth. Surviving are two sons, Chas. N. Rice of Shelbyville, and Floyd Rice of Oklahoma City, Okla; two grand children, Charlotte Rice of Shelbyville and Floyd Rice of Okla; one brother, Sam E. Green of Shelbyville. Funeral services were held at the residence Saturday afternoon, Rev. E. J. Barnett, pastor of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial was in Willow Mount cemetery.

DOYLE ROGERS , 23, died at the Bedford County Hospital Tuesday night after an illness of typhoid fever. The remains were conveyed to Bedford Wednesday afternoon, where the funeral services were held. Rev. E. H. Stout officiated. Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife and two small children, the youngest an infant only two days old; and his father, A. B. Rogers. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved family.

H.R. ROGERS - Word was received here last Wednesday of the death of H.G. Rogers, former resident of this place, in Los Angeles, Calif., where he has resided for the past 32 years. He is survived by the following brothers; E. C. Rogers of Nashville, A. F. Rogers of Portland, Oregon; Moody Rogers of Los Angeles, and a sister, Mrs. J. W. Burrow of Portland, Oregon.

JAMES BROWNLEE ROGERS , aged 74, a highly respected citizen died at the residence of his son, Horace Rogers on the Lynchburg pike, Monday at 12:30 after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at the New Hope church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. E.H. Stout. Burial was in the New Hope graveyard. Mr. Rogers was a man of many fine traits of character and will be greatly missed in the community. He is survived by the following children: Mrs Fred Kimery, Mrs. Alice Haithcote, Horace and Jimmy Rogers.

SARAH FRANCES ROGERS , wife of Will Tom Rogers, died at her home near Unionville Wednesday, Nov 8th. Mrs Rogers was seventy-four years of age and had been a member of the Methodist church for many years. The funeral was held at the Wheeler graveyard Thursday afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. Stem and Rev. Kelly officiated. She is survived by her husband, a sister and three brothers.

BETTY (FRIZZELL) RUSHING - Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 A.M., at the Chadwick cemetery near Beech Grove for Mrs Betty Frizzell Rushing who died Sunday at the home of her sister, Mrs. Laura Eaton, in Murfreesboro. She is survived by two brothers, John Frizzell of Deason, and Spencer Frizzell , Nashville; three sisters, Mrs. Laura Eaton, Murfreesboro, Mrs. Josie Whitaker, Bell Buckle and Mrs. Ellen Eaton, Chapel Hill.
