Almon Cannon born 13 June 1812 in Georgia. He is said to have married 1st to a Cherokee Indian woman around 1830. There were 4 children from this marriage

Nancy Mariah Cannon was born 10 Feb. 1842 in Bedford Co and died 29 Dec 1918, buried at Hasting Camp Grouind Cem. Her marriage to John Turner Reed occured on 7 August 1867 in Bedford Co. Their known children are: Susanna, Minnie, Richard, Eugene H. , Fannie B. and Finis T. Reed.


Nancy Mariah (Cannon) Reed, widow of John T. Reed, deceased, died suddenly of heart failure Sunday morning, Dec. 23, at the home of her son, Mr. G. W. Reed, a few miles from Shelbyville on the Tullahoma pike. She was in her usual health and rising from her chair to hand her grandson an apple, fell and expired in an instant. She was 77 years old and leaves four children. She was a member of the Separate Baptist Church at Thompson's Creek and buried at New Hope Cemetery"

Fannie B. Reed born about Jan 1878 married William A. Guy. They became a daughter named Mary L. Guy who married a Pierce and she is buried in Pinecrest Cem. Mobile AL

Lastly the 3rd wife was Ellender Powell and he had 4 children with her.
10. John Louis 14 Jun 1846 - 25 Aug 1918 m Sarah Catherine Haley


"A fatal accident befell Mr John L. Cannon near Singleton Sun. about 11 AM. He was looking for some hogs along the river bluff near his home and it is thought, leaned against a tree on the bluff and lost his balance and fell from the bluff a distance of 25 to 30 feet braking his right leg in two places, and also his right arm through the concussion of the fall and jar of the nervous system and interal organs is supposed to have caused his death, which took place about 5 o;clock in the afternoon. Mr cannon's son-in-law, Mr John Hammond was not far away and heard the fall and rushed to the place and had him moved to the house and attended to him promptly but his death followed as stated.
