FRED KING

Sheriff of Benton County; born in Weakley Co. June 19, 1892; Scotch-Irish descent; father A. T. King; occupation. mail service; mother SalIy Watson; paternal grandparents William and Sarah (Reed) King; ma­ternal grandparents Felix and Martha Watson; Democrat; member of the Church of Christ, Chamber of Commerce, Elected sheriff of Benton County in 1934; is serving his second term. Before his election as sheriff he served as dep­uty sheriff in Benton county for eight years before which he was engaged in farming, livestock raising, and timber business. As a citizen he stands out in the foremost ranks of Benton Counly; as an official he has but few superiors. Received his education in the public sehools of Benton County. Married Dec. 25, 1913 to Maggie Crockett, to which union two children were born, Hilden and Rebecca.
