Benton County Tennessee Newspaper Articles Rupurt Askew / Aden Stevens Rupert Askew - Born: January 23, 1879 Benton CO TN // Died: June 25, 1919 Benton CO, Son of John W "Chester" Askew and wife Lou Caldwell SANDUSKY REGISTER 6-26-1919 (OHIO) TWO KILLED IN HEAD ON SMASH Bowling Green, Ky, June 25---- A head on collision today on the Memphis branch of the Louisville and Nashville at Faxon, Tenn resulted in the deaths of Engineer Rupert Askew and Engineer Aden Stevens and the latters' fireman, Jesse R Thaxton of Bowling Green. Brakeman Fletcher and Trotter were badly hurt. An unofficial report says Fletcher had died of his injuries. The bodies of the dead men arrived here last night. He was a veteran of the Spanish-American War and WWI and received a Purple Heart.
