DONNA MAY SHERWOOD - Former Clippard and Holley carburetor plant worker Donna May Sherwood, 89, of Paris died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at Paris Healthcare Center. She was married on July 13, 1939, to Leo Sherwood, who survives. Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at McEvoy Funeral Home. Larry Simmons of First Baptist Church and the Rev. Arthur Lodge will officiate. Burial will be in Camden City Cemetery. Visitation is set from 4-8 p.m. today and after 11 a.m. Wednesday. Born Oct. 20, 1918, in Camden, she was the daughter of the late Noah and Mary Alice Barker Rogers. She was a graduate of Camden High School. She leaves two daughters: Jennifer (Gary) Willoughby of Paris and Jean (Larry) Benton of Nashville; three grandchildren: Patricia (Dan) Hurst of Knoxville and Tamara (Ed) Williams and Mike (Laura) Benton, both of Nashville; and two great-grandchildren: Sarah and Joshua Hurst, both of Knoxville.

SELMON SIMMONS - Services for Mr. Selmon Simmons, 84, will be held Sunday, May 26, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Oakdale Chapel with burial in Eastview Cemetery. Mr. Simmons died Friday, May 24, 2002 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Leatha Allen Simmons and one daughter, Angela Baker.

LOUISE (LOWERY) SMOTHERS - Funeral services for Louise L. Smothers, age 65, of Bruceton were held Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Bro. Bobby Jackson officiated the service. Pallbearers who served were Ricky Taylor, Leslie Mathis, Wesley Smothers, Scott Smothers, Robert Tart and Steve Hodge. Mrs. Smothers passed away Sept. 3 at the Plumley Rehabilitation Center in Paris. She was born Dec. 9, 1940, in Benton County to the late Elbert Bruce Lowery and Luellen (Mitchell) Lowery. She was a retired cook for the Iron Kettle Restaurant, a member of Mixie Missionary Baptist Church and attended Heaven Sent Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Wayne Smothers and two sons, Jackie Smothers and Rocky Smothers. Survivors include two sons, Scottie Smothers of Bruceton, Jay Jay Smothers of Hollow Rock; one sister, Irene Taylor of Holladay and one brother, Dennis Lowery of Huntingdon. She also leaves eight grandchildren and one great- granddaughter.

FANNIE MAE (UMSTEAD) SPENCE - Services will be held Fri., April 19 at Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home Chapel in Camden for Fannie Mae Spence, 84, of Camden with Bro. Latham McLean & Bro. Kevin Holland officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Spence was born March 14, 1918 in Benton County to Martin Umstead and Susie Allen Umstead, and died Wed., April 17 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN. Mrs. Spence was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wilbur Spence on June 14, 1972, a sister, Louise Umstead, and a brother, Willie Umstead. Survivors include a daughter, Joyce (John R.) Fitzpatrick of Big Sandy; a son, Jerry (Renee) Spence of Camden; sisters, Addie Moore, Kate Kee, Emmer Bain, and Mary Peach of Camden, Beulah Abbot of Holladay; a brother, Waymon Umstead of Camden; and seven grandchildren. Mrs. Spence was a retired machine operator with HIS and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church

DONNIE STOKES - Funeral services for Donnie Blake Stokes Jr., of Camden, 80, will be held Sunday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m. at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, with burial to follow in Piedmont Cemetery, Bishopville. The reverends Marvin Jones and Joe Stines will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday, Oct. 25, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Memorials may be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 810, Memphis, TN 38101. Mr. Stokes died Wednesday, Oct. 22. Born in Bishopville, he was the son of the late Donnie Blake Sr. and Rozine Ray Stokes. Mr. Stokes had retired from the DuPont Company and was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Donnie loved his John Deer and Farmall tractors; working on his cars; and enjoyed bird hunting, his garden and deer hunting. Mr. Stokes was married to the late Blanche Wallace Stokes. Surviving are his children, Ronnie B. Stokes (Rosemary) of Lugoff, Joyce McCaskill (Terry) of Camden, Gail Hames (Bill) of Camden, Kay McLeod (Doug) of Camden and Cheryl Wallace (Alton) of Bishopville; grandchildren, Blake, Michael, Amy, Doug, Angela, Kelly, Alice, Julie and Melissa; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Olin L. Stokes (Sylvia) of Camden. He was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Campbell. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Alice Brooks, the staff of Springdale Healthcare, the staff of Kershaw County Medical Center and the staff of Tri-County Hospice. BETTY LOU STYLES - Funeral services will be held for Betty Lou Styles on Sat., April 13, 2002 at 1 PM at Mt. Carmel Methodist Church in Big Sandy with Bro. Tom Clement officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Big Sandy. Ms. Styles was a customer service representative for GE Financial. She was born Feb. 22, 1943 in Benton County and is survived by daughters, Dianna Peters of Hurricane, WV and Cheryl Clement of Milwaukee, WI; sons, Ron Clement of Plainfield, IL and Mathew Styles of Milwaukee, WI; sisters, Paulette Andrews and Clara Watson of Paris, TN Mildred Witherspoon of Big Sandy, and Pat Forrest of Gleason.
