Willie Akins, age 85 of Pikeville, died October 31, 2010, in the Bledsoe County Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Lori Akins; brothers, Jim, Norman, C.L. and Adophis Akins; sister, Polly McWilliams. She is survived by son, Randall Akins of Pikeville; sister, Elizabeth Jolly of Louisville, KY; special nephew, Kenneth Harmon of Signal Mountain; several nieces, nephews and cousins. James Angel, 77 of Pikeville went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday November 30, 2010. He was a former employee of TVA where he worked as a lineman. James was of the Baptist faith and attended First Baptist Church in Pikeville. He was preceded in death by his parents; Lige and Della Angel, brothers; Grady, Charles, Nathaniel, and Jeffrey Angel, sisters; Wanda Angel and Radith Hodges, and a great-granddaughter; Angel Blaylock. He is survived and will be missed by his sons; Ronny (Michele) Angel and Gary (Lisa) Angel, daughters; Connie (Marty) Daggett, Donna (Charles) Angel, Shelia Ann (David) Turner, and Genese (Bob) Sapp, brother; Dwain (Dorothy) Angel, sisters; Juanita (Junior) Hankins, Ruby Walling, Freda (Gene) Frady, and Linda (Lanny) Simmons, Ohio, 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many close friends. A Celebration of James life will be held in the chapel of Pikeville Funeral Home on Friday December 3, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Jimmy Williams officiating. PATRICIA ANN (CORN) ANGEL

Patricia Ann Angel, 43 of Pikeville passed away on September 28, 2010. Ms. Pat as she was more affectionately known as was a special education instructor at Bledsoe County middle school. She was a tireless advocate for the kids that she taught. Even though she had no children of her own she often said that all of her students were her children. Ms. Pat also helped with cheerleading, girls softball, and the Special Olympics. She was employed with the Bledsoe County school system for 18 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Sue Corn. Ms. Pat is survived and will be sorely missed by her husband, Tim Angel; brother, Kenneth Corn of Oklahoma; sisters, Jean Carlton, Crawford, TN, and Sandy Runnestrand, Katy, TX, several nieces and nephews, all of her Bledsoe County School Staff and Faculty members, and most importantly all of her kids. A Celebration of Ms. Pats Life will be held in the chapel of Pikeville Funeral Home on Saturday October 2, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Friday October 1, 2010. Wendel Angel, 70 of Pikeville passed away on Saturday January 22, 2010. Wendel was of the Baptist faith. He also served his country in the United States Army. Wendel was preceded in death by his parents; Charlie and Mamie Angel, brothers; Clyde Angel, James Linvel Angel, and Clayton Angel. Zanda Angel, age 77 of Pikeville, died Friday, January 28, 2011. Zanda was a member of Pikeville Church of Christ where she was a former Sunday School teacher for many years, past president of the Bledsoe County Historical Society, president of Bledsoe Senior Citizens, member of Bledsoe County Genealogical Society, and a member of the Bledsoe County Garden Club. She was a retired employee of Taft Youth Center where she worked for thirty-six years. Zanda was preceded in death by her husband Roger Angel. Survivors include daughters Debora Angel (John) Pompi, Ronda (Robert) Denn, Sonya (Jack) Johnson, all of Pikeville; son Jeffery (Vanessa) Angel, Pikeville; grandchildren Rachel and Zachary Bruning, Samantha Pompi, Michael, Lauren, and Sean Denn, Mason and Rebecca Angel, Justin and Tessa Johnson; brothers Milfred (Sue) Waggoner, Wendell (Charla) Waggoner, Texas; mother-in-law Mary Rose Angel, Pikeville; several nieces and nephews. Roy Clayton Brock, 78 of Pikeville, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, January 24, 2011. Roy was born on February 16, 1932 in Pikeville to the late Hobert and Virgie Lou Brock. He retired from General Motors, was a Korean War Veteran and a member of VFW Post 5033. Roy was a loving husband and father and was devoted to his family. He enjoyed working in his garden and was an avid gun and knife collector, and enjoyed watching sports. Roy was preceded in death by his brother Wiley Ray Brock and sister Willadean Overturf. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a farmer and he loved his International tractor. Jerry was preceded in death by his father; Harvey Brown. Margaret Ellen Clark age 62 of Pikeville died early Thursday morning February 17, 2011 at her home. Margaret was born in Rhea County on October 6, 1948 the daughter of the late Sidney and Marie (Brady) Clark. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Jarrett and Sandra Messimer, her brother, Rodger Clark, two nephews, Thomas Dean Miller and Brandon Collier.Margaret lived all of her life in Pikeville and was a graduate of Bledsoe County High School class of 1965. She was a member of the Summer City Baptist Church.She is survived by her three sisters, Shirley Miller of Sale Creek and Barbara Swafford and Marcia Kirkland both of Pikeville and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services for Margaret will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30pm in the funeral home chapel with burial following in the Summer City Cemetery.

LANDON COLVARD, SR.
Landon Colvard, Sr, 89 of Pikeville passed away at an area hospital on September 22, 2010. He was a member of the Pikeville Church of God. He was also a veteran of the United States Army and served during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion. Landon accomplished many things during his life and served in many capacities in the local government. He was a Tennessee State Senator from 1953-1955, and served as Bledsoe Countys Clerk and Master and Register of Voters. Landon was preceded in death by his parents, William, Sr. and Addie Colvard; four brothers, Leo Colvard, Norman Colvard, Phillip Colvard, Sr, and William Colvard, Jr, five sisters, Edith Colvard Duckett; Vivian Colvard Joyner; Amy Colvard; Sybil Colvard Seals, and Gladys Colvard Humble, one granddaughter, Amanda Hope Colvard Richards. He is survived and will be missed by his wife of 67 years, Hortense Graham Colvard; three sons, Landon Laney (Charlotte) Colvard, Jr, Thad Ronald Ronny (Carol) Colvard; Daniel G. Dan (Sue) Colvard; and 1 daughter, Rebecca Ann (Greg) Forgey, grandchildren, Lana Colvard; Thad (Tammy) Colvard; Amy Colvard; Angie (Rusty) Farley; Michael (Aimee) Colvard; Matthew Daniel Colvard; Melanie (Jeremiah) Johnson; Adam Forgey; Faith Forgey; fifteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many friends. Bruce Cotherman, 67 of Pikeville passed away on Tuesday December 14, 2010. Bruce was retired from General Motors, he worked at the Saturn plant in Spring Hill, TN. He was also employed with Tecumseh. Bruce was a dedicated volunteer for the Bledsoe Lil Blue, he slaved over the grill on many occasions during the home games. He really enjoyed watching these young men and boys compete. He was preceded in death by his mother; Leone Ford, a brother; Ray Cotherman, and a sister; Kay Draper. Margie Bell Cummings, age 72 of Pikeville died at her home Friday morning October 8, 2010. Margie was born on Evensville Mountain on April 23, 1938 the daughter of the late Robert Jesse James Jordan and Jessie (Felts) Jordan. She was also preceded in death by her son Tony Cummings.Margie lived most of her life in Pikeville and had been employed as a beautician and then as a home health care nurse. Carl "Ed" Fugate, age 77 of Pikeville died Wednesday, January 26, 2011. Carl was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He was also in the American Legion and the VFW. Preceding Carl in death were parents Carl and Ida Fugate, infant sister, brothers Kenneth, Ted and Roger Fugate. Dorothy Lee Gallagher "Dottie", age 85 of Pikeville, TN and formerly of Glen Burnie Md. And Odenton, Md. Died on November 6, 2010. Dorothy was born a Native American Lumbee Indian in Lumberton, N. C. She left N. C. in her teens and came to Baltimore, Md to work at Bendix Radio after WW2. Later, she moved to Odenton, Md. Where she worked at the Golden Flame (now Perry's) restaurant. She stated many times that it was the best job she ever had and loved her customers. She is preceded in death by two husbands, Francis L. Gallagher (married for 27 years) and Robert F. Clatterbuck (Married for 25 years). She was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary, Post 160. Dottie wanted everyone to know that she had a great life and loved her family, friends, and her wonderful nurses Christy, Bradley, Thelma, and her devoted care givers Rhonda, Angie, Amy, Charity, Grace, Roni, Steph, and Sarah very much. Surviving are three children Frances L. Jones, William L. Gallagher and Laura L. Arner; grandchildren William R. Gallagher, Thomas E. Jones, and Wendy E. Sullivan; eleven great-grandchildren. ROBERT B. SCHOOLFIELD

Aged Pikeville Judge Succumbs - Pikeville, Tenn. -- Judge Robert B. Schoolfield, 93, widely known attorney and one of the oldest active judges in the nation died at his home here Sunday after a brief illness. Until Sept. 13, Judge Schoolfield headed the Bledsoe County General Sessions Court having assumed the judgeship at the age of 91. He was admitted to the bar in 1875 and remained active until a few weeks ago.

SAMUEL WORTHINGTON
Samuel Worthington, a well known citizen of Bledsoe county, Tennessee, committed suicide at his residence, five miles from Pikeville, a short time since. No cause is assigned for the rash proceeding. Mr. Worthington had never been married. He was one of the wealthiest men in the county, and surrounded by all the comforts of life.
