COUNTY TENNESSEE
Rev. David Anderson, who was pastor of First united Methodist in Lexington (Henderson Co) from 1958 to 1962 and is now retired. Rev. Anderson and his wife Glen are 81 and 79 respectively. He was born and raised on the family farm near Clarksburg. She was born and raised on her family farm near Beech Bluff. He attended Clarksburg High School and Glen went to Beech Bluff High.
They maintain two homes, one at Clarksburg on the home farm and one at Eva, near Lakeshore United Methodist Assembly Theological Seminary. They met and married when he was serving his first charge in 1937 on the Beech Bluff Circuit.
Rev. Anderson retired in 1979 after 42 years of ministry but has stayed busy, serving on the Hollow Rock - Hebron and Eva-Flatwoods Circuit. he now substitutes in the pulpit for other ministers.
Besides Beech Bluff and Lexington, he has served on the Humboldt Circuit; Medina-Zion; Dyer First UMC; Tiptonville First UMC; Camden First UMC; Hays Ave. in Jackson (now Aldersgate); Longstreet UMC in Memphis and Dresden 1st UMC.
Rev. and Mrs. ANderson visit often in Lexton, playing vital roles in the lives of their two little granddaughters, Rachel 7 and Mattie 3. Their parents are David and Grace Anderson. David, a former pupil of mine in school, is News Editor and photographer at the Progress. Grace is choir director at Lexington First United Methodist Church and with David owns and operates the Dixie Trophy House.
Rev. and Mrs. Anderson's daughter, Martha Holifield lives at Eva, TN where she has served 15 years as Administrative Asst. at Lakeshore United Methodist Assembly. Her daughter, Sarah, is a student at Jackson State Community.
