Pearl Wilson Maddox

Lawyer; born in Weakley Co. TN April 10, 1872; son of Thomas Crowley and Lucinda (Epperson) Maddox; educated in the public schools of Weakley Co, and Southern Normal University, Huntingdon, TN, graduated from latter with LLB degree, April 7, 1898; began his business career as a farmer, later taught school; studied law and admitted to bar, State of TN in 1898; began the practice of law at Huntingdon April 1899; married Amanda Lou Emma Shankle, April 25, 1896; member Macebees of the World; Republican; represented Carroll Co. in Lower House General Assembly of TN in 1903; Election Commissioner for Carroll Co TN 1904-1908; nominated Elector for Eighth District by Jackson Convention, Brownlow wing of the Republican party, May 1908; member of the Methodist Church, South; appointed Referee in Bankruptcy, Eastern Division Western District of Tennessee, Jan. 16, 1911.

He was elected Mayor in 1924-1926-28, then was re-elected Mayor in March 1937. He is one of the state's outstanding attorneys having a large practice at Huntingdon and surrounding County. He is the father of two chilren; P.W. Maddox, former assistant atty. gen. of the middle District of TN and D.W. Maddox, former federal district atty. at Memphis, both of whom are now engaged in the practice of law. Mr. Maddox at Huntingdon TN. He was a delegate to the Republican Nat. Convention at Cleveland Ohio in 9124, which conventeion nominated Coolidge.
