Sheriff of Carroll County TN; born in Carroll Co., Sept. 27, 1888; Scotch-Irish descent; son of Edward Clayton McLemore and Mary Ida Manning; father's occupation, farmer, paternal grandparents; Abraham McLemore and Neely Camp; maternal grandparents; Dempsey Manning and Harriet Horriss.
Attended public schools of Carroll County and Busines College; and is a member of Methodist Church; Democrat; Mason; Jr. Order; Lions Club; married Miss Clell French, April 27, 1913.
Mr. McLemore was first elected Sheriff of Carroll County in August 1932 - 34- 36, having served the people faithfully and efficiently rendering justice both to the rich and the poor alike and enforcing all laws to the letter; he is one of the few democrats ever to be elected to the sheriff's office in Carroll Co.; before his eelection he wsa engaged in farming, livestock raising, and trading for a number of years; he was at one time a rural mail carrier from the Huntingdon office.
He is the father of two children, Hildreth Monell, student at Bowling Green Business College and James Malcom, student in high school. His hobby is sports.
