COUNTY TENNESSEE
This is the family group of the late William Jackson and Martha Ann Allen Rich who were m about the year 1885. They came here from Bedford County, Shelbyville in 1887. Mrs. Rich and their twin daughters, Florence and Lee, who were six weeks old made the trip by train and Mr. Rich traveled here by horse and wagon. It took him nine days to make the journey. To this union 12 children were born, with two dying in infancy. The other ten children have all lived and raised families in Carroll County. Gordon, the only survivor lives near Huntingdon.
Pictured (Sorry - I have no photo) seated are Mr. and Mrs. Rich; he is holding Alvin (who d in 1984) and she is holding Gordon.
Standing left to right are Forrest (d in 1974), Lee (the late Mrs. Jesse Humphrey d in 1951), Mrs. Allie Holt (d in 1985), Maude (the late Mrs. Frank Vickers, d in 1960, Florence (the late Mrs. Med Townsend d in 1974) and Clarence (d in 1962). Milburn (d in 1977) and Hoyt (d in 1975) were bom after this picture was made.
To these children were born 39 grandchildren, 116 great grandchildren, 127 great-great grandchildren, 108 great-great-great-
grandchildren. There were 25 of these grandchildren and great granchildren served in military service.
