VERDA (MEBANE) THOMAS

Verda Elizabeth (Mebane) Thomas b. 1887 d. 1977, daughter of John T. Mebane b. 1850 d. 1914 and Georgia A. Warbritton Mebane b. 1858 d. 1950, sister of Claude E. Mebane. She attended Beaver Creek Academy and Southern Normal University.

Married W. Pitsy Thomas in 1912, a highly respected farmer in the Mt. Zion Community. Later operated a Gulf Oil Station in Huntingdon. They were faithful, active members of the Methodist Church and Democrats. Two children, Wade Lee Thomas and Virginia Elizabeth Thomas were bom to this union.

Wade Lee Thomas b. 1913, a graduate of Huntingdon High School, WWII veteran with the 8th division Air Force in England. A florist, now retired, a Methodist and a Democrat.

Virginia Elizabeth Thomas b. 1917, attended Bethel College, taught school eight years. Employed during WWII n Dallas, TX with the Aviation Corp. Supervisor for the Telephone Company for thirty years. Retired, a Methodist and Democrat, never married.
