JOHN FIELDS , at his home in the 10th district, August 13, 1890, of access of the lungs after a short but painful illness. He was born Oct. 1, 1809 and in early life gave his heart to the Christ and joined the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was one among the first members to organize a church at Barren Springs and was made an elder at that time, until God said “come up to your reward in heaven.” So he lived in this world nearly 81 years and nearly all that time was a servant of God,… He was followed by a large body of friends and relatives to his last resting place, where he was buried with Masonic honors. He leaves five children and several grandchildren to mourn his absence, but they have all confidence that he is in heaven, where there is no more sorrow. Be assured dear children and friends, Uncle John is at rest. Written by his niece (no name given).
