Will of John R. Shipman
Last Will and testament
I, John R. Shipman, being of sound mind and memory do mark and publish this as my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all other wills by me at any time made.
I direct that my funeral expenses and all my debts be paid as soon after my death as possible out of any moneys that I may die possessed of or may first come into the hands of my Executor.
Secondly, I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth M. Shipman and hundred acres of land lying in the southwest corner of my tract of land.
Thirdly, I give and bequeath to my daughter Charlotte Shipman one hundred acres of land lying on the northwest corner of my tract of land.
Fourthly, I give and bequeath to Elisha T. Shipmen, Martha Ann Shipman, Sarah Shipman, my home tract of land containing by estimation one hundred and seventy-four and one half acres of land.
Fifthly, I give and bequeath to my son Elisha T. one black two year old mule and saddle and bridle.
Sixthly, I give and bequeath to my daughter Martha Ann one black year old mule.
Seventhly, I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah my old leade mare by the name Mary.
Eightly, I will and bequeath to my daughter Nancy Smith one hundred and twenty-five acres of land known as the Morris tract on the waters of Birdsong to make them all equal with Elijah M. Shipman my oldest son.
To carry out the full interest and meaning of this my last will I direct that my large mule named Scott and two hundred acres of land lying on the waters of Cub Creek and eight hundred pounds of pork and one yoke of oxen and one beef steer and one red cow with motly face and one red cow with white to be sold on twelve months credit to pay my debts and other expences; if any remains to be divided equally among my foresaid children the balance of my property not herein named my will and desire is my family equally be supported on it.
Lastly, I do hereby nominate and appoint my worthy friend Albert G. Hill my Executor. In witness whereof I do to this my will set my hand and seal this 13th day of December 1857.
