MARY NELL (BREWER) RANKIN , 88, of Henderson died April 27, 2006, at Ava Maria Nursing Home. Funeral services were held April 29 at Leon Johnson Funeral Home with Bro. Andy Maness officiating. Burial followed in Henderson City Cemetery. She was born and reared in Chester County, the daughter of the late Thompsy W. and Jerry Key Brewer. She attended schools in Chester County and graduated from Chester County High School, Freed-Hardeman University, Union University and University of Memphis. She married Varnell Rankin in 1944, and they made their home in Henderson where she taught school in Chester County and Madison County for some 47 plus years. Mr. Rankin died in 1987. She was a member of Henderson Church of Christ and the Retired Teachers’ Association.

She is survived by two daughters, Beverly Anita Rankin of Montgomery, Ala., and Sandra Jones of Bartlett; a sister, Ruby Bailey of Pensacola, Fla.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

CAROLYN SUE (SMITH) REDDITT , 69, of Eads died July 31, 2006, at Methodist University Hospital. Funeral services were held Aug. 3 at Leon Johnson Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Lane officiating. Burial followed in Sweetlips Cemetery. She was born in Chester County, the daughter of the late Hubert and Maggie Cooper Smith. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1956. She married Bob Redditt in 1964, and they traveled for several years following his job. In 1984, they moved to Millington. Mr. Redditt died in 1988. She was a member of the Eastern Star and First Baptist Church in Jackson. She is survived by a daughter, Patty Cheatwood of Memphis; three sons, Robert Redditt of Eads, Tommy Redditt of Millington, and James Redditt of Lexington; a brother, James Smith of Henderson; and 21 grandchildren.

CONRAD NEAL RHODES - Services for Conrad Neal Rhodes were Thursday at Unity Baptist Church with Elder R. E. Maughmer officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Pafford Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Rhodes, who was 86, died Wednesday at Jackson General Hospital after a long illness. He was a retired farmer. He leaves no immediate survivors.

HENRY RHODES , aged 52 years, died last Saturday at his home in Chester County. He left a wife but no children. Mr. Rhodes was born and reared in Henderson County, but in 1879 he moved to California. In that state he made money, and five or six years ago came back to Tennessee and purchased the John H. Trice farm near Henderson.

HUBERT LEE RHODES - Services for Hubert Lee Rhodes were Sunday at Unity Baptist Church with the Rev. Floyd Rogers and the Rev. H. B. Burruss officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Pafford Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Rhodes, a farmer, died Saturday at his home near Middlefork after a heart attack. He was 78. A son of the late Thomas Neal Rhodes and Mrs. Beatrice Laster Rhodes, he was born in Henderson County. He was a Baptist. He leaves five sons, Howard Rhodes and Carmon Rhodes, both of Huron, Lloyd Rhodes of Lexington, Gilbert Rhodes of Maryville and Burl Rhodes of Harrison, Ind.; a brother, Floyd Rhodes of Huron; and a sister, Mrs. Ernest Smith of Henderson.
