Will of CHRISTOPHER GOSE, deceased State of Tennessee, Claiborne County,
September the 23rd 1854. Form of a will, with the devisees of a real estate
leasehold and household estate, the last will and testament of Christopher Gose
of Claiborne County, Tennessee.
Considering the uncertainty of this mortal life, and being of sound mind and
memory, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form
following, that is to say.
First, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Sarah A. Gose, the one half of
all the lands that I, Christopher Gose, am seized of in Claiborne County, and in
the state of Tennessee, during her natural life or widowhood. And if the said
Sarah A. Gose should marry or depart this life, the whole of said lands and
tenements wholly to inure to the Guardian of Stephen Gose of Russell County,
Virginia, for my beloved son Stephen Gose, Jr., of Claiborne County, Tennessee,
to have and to hold all the right, title and interest in and to all the land and
tenements that I, Christopher Gose am known seized of in the county of Claiborne
and state of Tennessee.
I, Christopher Gose, do hereby will and bequeath that out of my personal
property, that my funeral and burial expenses and all my debts be paid, and if
anything be left then to be equally divided between my beloved wife and my son
Stephen Goss. The above instrument consisting of one sheet, was herein
subscribed by Christopher Gose, the Testator in the presence of each of us, and
was at the time declared by him to be his last will and testament, and we, at
his request, sign our names hereto as attesting witnesses, this 23rd day of

Codicil to the Will of CHRISTOPHER GOSE, deceased Codicil to my last will
and testament that is to say, a supplement or addition to the same, where I,
Christopher Gose of Claiborne County and state of Tennessee, have made my last
will and testament in writing, bearing date September 23rd 1854, known I do by
this my writing, which I hereby declare to be a codicil to my last will, to be
taken as a part thereof, I will and direct that my late father, Stephen Gose of
Russell County, Virginia, be appointed Guardian to my beloved wife Sarah A.
Gose, and my beloved son Stephen Gose, widow of the Testator, Christopher Gose,
of Claiborne County, Tennessee, that the said Stephen Gose, as Guardian for
Sarah A. Gose, and Stephen Gose, shall have full power to sell all the personal
property and all real estate, bring suit and defend suits in said estate; sue
and be sued, receive and receipt and after making due settlement with all whom
this estate may concern, to retain in his hands, at interest, the benefits of
all the goods and chattels, lands and tenements, of the Testator, Christopher
Gose, for the purpose of educating the Testator, Christopher Gose’s son, Stephen
Gose. And if the amount should exceed his education, to be paid to his legal
heir at the age of 21 years, and the other to his late wife Sarah A. Gose, or
the proportional part, during her natural life or widowhood. Test: Daniel McVay
