CLAIBORNE COUNTY, TENNESSEE Will Book, Volume 2

Will of MARTAIN B. MOSS, deceased I Martain B. Moss, do make and publish this as my last will and testament, hereby revoking and making void all other wills by me at any time made.

First, I direct that my funeral expenses and all my debts be paid as soon after my death as possible out of any money that first comes into the hands of my Executors.

Secondly, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary Moss, all my land and all other property, both real and personal, to have and to use and hold while she remains my widow or her natural lifetime if she remains my widow. And at her death, I wish all the property, both real and personal, sold and equally divided among my children.

In witness whereof, I do to this my will, set my hand and seal this fourteenth day of March 1853. I appoint Isaac Thomas, my Executor. Test: Isaac Thomas Enos Hayter Martain (X) Moss

Inventory of the Estate of MARTAIN B. MOSS, deceased Personal property includes: 350 acres of land valued at $3500; negro man named Dock worth $900.00; cash on hand $390.00

Nine head of horse beasts and small colt; mule, five cows, two heifers, five yearlings, yoke of steers, two wagons, one old and one nearly new; bureau, three tables, five poplar bedstead, and one cherry bedstead; cherry press, cupboard, walnut chest, trunk, rocking cradle for child, weaving loom and harness, 15 chairs, stone kettle, brass kettle, two flat irons, large kettle, tin gallon pot, two small cookers , large cooker with lid, two small kettles, oven, wash stand, large tin pan, two pitchers, two dishes, two deep dishes, 2 ½ sets of plates, small pitcher, two sets of knives and forks, 1 ½ sets of cups and saucers, two washing tubs, set of silver teaspoons, school books, eleven hogs, eight pigs, two barshear plows, two shovel plows, two bull tongue plows, four sets of horse gearing, two scythes and cradles, two side saddles, large jar, three milk crocks, half bushel measure, ten geese, some rock off a chimney falling down, some corn and bacon; note on David Johnson $15.00; note on F.
