CLAIBORNE COUNTY, TENNESSEE Will Book, Volume 2

Sale of the Estate of MILTON HURST, deceased John Hurst, in accordance with an order of the Court, proceeded to make settlement with James B. Neil, surviving partner of the firm of Neil & Hurst, and to sell at private sale the share of Milton Hurst, in the firm, which was sold to James B. Neil for the sum of $907.10. The personal property was also sold.

Buyers were: Isaac Miller – eight common chairs $2.50

Emily Hurst – two little chairs $.30; two small leaf tables $4.50; clock $5.00; shovel $.10; looking glass $.20; pair candle molds $.40; smoothing iron $.40; cupboard $7.00

J. B. Neil – pair fire irons $1.00; two crocks, jar and pitcher $.50

W. G. Payne – keg and some salt $.30

James C. Hurst – keg and some lard $2.50; flour barrel $.15; plain poplar table $.75; dirt jug $.20; 1 ½ bushel $.20; piggin $.15; spit box $.20; powder keg $.10

Total amount received from sale of the estate was $25.56, this April term of 1853.

Inventory of the Estate of MILTON HURST, deceased Personal property includes: Clock, two candlesticks, looking glass, pair fire irons, two pair shovels, eight large common chairs, three small common chairs, two small drop leaf tables, plain poplar table, cupboard, two stone crocks, jar, and pitcher, jug, candle molds, flour barrel, two baskets, two small chairs, tub and some lard, half bushel, piggin, eight bushels corn, spit box, powder keg, keg and some salt

True account of all the property that has come into my hands, this 17th day of December 1852. John Hurst, Administrator

The said James B. Neil became bound to pay all the debts of the firm, all of which is respectfully submitted.

Year’s Provisions to EMILY HURST, Widow of MILTON HURST, deceased 700 lbs pork, 800 lbs flour, 80 lbs coffee, 150 lbs sugar 150 lbs salt, 2 lbs tea, 3 lbs pepper, 1 lb spice, 1 lb ginger 25 dozen eggs, 12 dozen chickens, 12 turkeys, 300 lbs beef One cow and calf, 75 bushels corn

The estimated amount of the above provisions is $157.42, this 3rd day of January 1853.
