Charles Taylor Alexander was born February 18, 1862, to Charles G. Alexander and Harriet Brawley. Charles G. was born December 27, 1820, and died April 28, 1902. Harriet, born February 9, 1824, and died June 4, 1904, was the daughter of Granville Brawley. Their other children were Cathey (male), William F. ( Billy) , Elizabeth, Mary Ann, and Lucy. They lived in Hardin County and several of this family are buried at Shady Grove. On February 7, 1889, Charles Taylor Alexander married Mary Elizabeth ( Mollie) Young. She was born February 6, 1867, and raised in the Thurman Community of Decatur County. Her mother was Mary Ann Creasy born March 17, 1833, in Decatur County and her father was James Irvin Young who fought in the Civil War. She had 4 half brothers - Billy, Andy, Frank Kincannon, and Caleb Perry Patterson. Mary Ann Creasy married 3 times.
Charles T. Alexander and Mollie were the parents of 8 children, E. L. ( Lute) who married Maudie Robbins (9 children) ; Nora who married Roy Montgomery (10 children) ; Howard who married 1st Ethel Thompson (7 children) and 2nd Clara Creasy (13 children) ; Hattie who married 1st Logan Britt (1 child) and 2nd Albert Strawn (4 children); Paford who married 1st Clyde Holland (1 child) and 2nd Sid Thomison (5 children) ; Perry who married Rita Sparks (11 children) ; Mitchell who died at about 3 years ; Ida who married Carl Creasy (9 children). Charles Taylor Alexander died April 11, 1931 and his wife Mary Elizabeth Young died May 11, 1940. They are buried in Cornish Methodist Church Cemetery. All of their children except E. L. were also buried there. E.L. was buried at Bruceton.
