GEORGE MAXWELL
George "Watt" purchased land in 1830 in the northern area of what would become Decatur County near the community of Jeanette. The Maxwell couple's children were Amanda who married John Newsome (they are buried at Suttles Chapel), Mary C. "Sis" who married James Eli "Pete" Taylor (buried at Suttles Chapel), Fronia who married Will Williams (buried at Suttles Chapel), Florence who married Lee Daugherty (buried in Mississippi), Sarah Elizabeth who married Green Miller (buried at Suttles Chapel), Martha who never married (buried at Suttles Chapel), Will who married Eliza Ann Gulledge ( born 22 August 1870 ) in 1889(buried at Suttles Chapel), and Paralie who married Green Tanner. These children were all born in Henderson County and moved to Decatur County. The father, George Washington Maxwell was buried at Pleasant Grove, Sweet Bud, Cemetery in Henderson County and his wife, Mary was buried at Suttles Chapel.
