![]() Thomas was born in 1818 and died in 1862 in Tupelo, Mississippi from wounds received at the battle of Shiloh. In 1849, he had married Paulina West and was the father of Frances Isabel (1850-1936) who married Samuel Westbrooks, Josephone (1852-1874), Mary Susan (1855-1938) who married an Arnold and a Burkett, Robert Henry (1857-1931), and William Conn ( 1859-1948). In 1877, Robert Henry, his sister Frances Westbrooks, and his brother William Conn left Decatur County for Clay County Texas. However, in 1885, Robert Henry returned to Decatur County were he married Eudora Victoria Long daughter of Gloud Finley Long and his wife Flora Ann Shoemaker. Robert was a teacher in Decatur County until he and his family returned to Clay County, Texas where they remained the rest of their lives. G. F. Long was born in 1821 and died in 1897 in Decatur County. His father was Hugh Washington Long from North Carolina. They were in Decatur County by the 1850 census.
