GEORGE W. PARTIN
George came to Decatur County from Ringold, Georgia in 1880. He settled in the area of Bear Creek.He was a sewing machine agent and met and then married Margaret Rushing on 8 February 1882. After building a house in the bear Creek area, a post office was established and named Partinville after its first postmaster. They lived there until the railroad was built through Parsons. As Parsons was established as a town, the Partins moved there and began one of the first stores. They were the parents of 5 children: Walter, Arthur, Asa, Don, and Carl. George built a 12 room brick hotel which he named Tulane Hotel after the Tulane Hotel of Nashville. George died 1 April 1918 and was buried at the Parsons Cemetery. Carl married Mary Wood of Lawrenceburg on 18 June 1919. Walter married Lillian Taylor of Frances, Oklahoma on 24 December 1913 while in New Mexico homesteading. He later moved back to Parsons
