SAMUEL GEORGE REED

Richmond Pearson born 5 September 1802 and died 5 August 1873, was the son of George Reed of Rowan County, NC. He was a circuit riding preacher and a cobbler. He and his first wife had 9 children and his second wife, Becky, also bore 9 children. One of the sons of Richmond and Becky was Samuel George born in 1837 and died in 1921. During the civil War, Samuel fought with the 11th IL Calvary Company E. After the end of the war, he first settled in Mississippi. He and his wife were the parents of 3 children Janie, Frank, and Samuel George, Jr. the Reeds later moved to Decatur County living in the Thurman Community. After the death of his first wife, Samuel married Mattie Davis of Saltillo. She was much younger than he. Samuel George, Jr.was born 22 September 1870 and died 21 January 1931. He married 21 September 1891 to Olive Ophelia Nelms who was born 7 June 1869 and died 15 November 1900. They were the parents of 3 sons George Leamon, Henry Wisdon, and Jessie Lee. Henry W. was born 11 February 1895 and married Lillie M. Wyatt who was born 12 April 1898.
