Permelia (Brashears) Roberts d/o Walter and Elizabeth (Roberts) Brashears 6. Permelia E. Brashears, b. 7 Nov 1829 (20 in 1850), d. 4 Dec 1887; m. Houston Roberts, b. c1820 (30 in 1850, Dist. #1, Decatur Co. TN, p. 13-13). Houston and Permelia had just gotten started; they have only one son, Robert S. W. Roberts, age 2. Jane Roberts, age 34, was living with them when the census was taken, as were Richard Moody, age 25, and his wife, Elender, age 23, and two Moody children, Giles F. age 3, and Mary E. age 1. Children of Houston and Permelia (Brashears) Roberts: 1. Robert S. W. Roberts, b. c1848 (age 2 in 1850) 2. Philip Franklin Roberts, b. 5 Mar 1852, d. 14 Mar 1906; m. Virginia (Currin) Brashears, b. 27 July 1848, d. 25 Jun 1898, widow of John Walter Brashears, son of Isaac E. Brashears. 3. James Monroe Roberts, b. 15 Jan 1855, d. 31 Jan 1941, married Mollie Rebecca Davis, b. 13 Aug 1860, d. 2 Jun 1937. 4. Jesse Lafayette Roberts, b. 20 Apr 1857, d. 25 Mar 1863. 5. Martha Jane Roberts, b. 19 Dec 1860, d. 10 Apr 1941, married Thomas Brawley, b. 27 May 1854, d. 1933. 6. Bettie Permelia Roberts, b. 17 Nov 1865, d. 1896, married W.Washington Powers. "Sgt. Houston Roberts, Co. E, 6 TN Cavelry" (no dates) is buried near Isaac E. Brashears and his family in the "Morgan Cemetery," which is on the original land grant of Isaac Brashears, the Patriarch.
