![]() Arthur was an expert in hewing logs which were used in many buildings in the county including the Mt. Tabor school which was still standing in 1944. He was a member of the Mt. Lebanon Methodist Church. He fought as a Union soldier, enlisting on 18 September 1862 in Co G, 6th Regiment, TN Cavalry under Capt. W. C. Webb. Morning Tolley died on 14 February 1873 and was buried at the "old" Tolley Cemetery. Arthur then married Mary Skinner Ready, widow of John R. Ready. Their 2 sons were Dolph and Dossie Ready. Arthur and Mary were the parents of Mary Ellen born 11 February 1879 and Lucy born 12 March 1882. Arthur died in 1898 and Mary died in 1908. They were both buried at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. All of Arthur's sons moved to Henderson Co. TN ca 1900 except Joseph Thomas who married his step sister Dossie Readey. James Arthur returned to Decatur Co. after a few years and operated a General Merchandise Store in the Camp Ground Community. He is buried at the Camp Ground Cemetery. Arthur F. Tolley, son of Samuel Jackson, was a mortician in Decatur Co and half owner of Parsons Mortuary. He was manager of the Holcomb Produce Co in Parsons and the bridge between Parsons and Decaturville is named for him. John T., another son of Samuel Jackson, was Sheriff of Decatur Co during the 1940's and served in WWI. William Madison, a son of Martin Andrew, was a principal of Decaturville High School in the early 1920's. Bud Tolley and Jess Tolley, sons of James Arthur were accomplished musicians.
