Hobart L. Townsend
Born in Sugartree TN, Aug. 3, 1905. Of Scotch-Irish descent. He specialized in General Insurance. Son of Cordellia Estelle (Harrison) and E.M. (Eli Mansfield) Townsend, a farmer. He finished public schools of Decatur Co. A member of Union University of Jackson TN. A member of the First Baptist Church; Democrat; W.O.W.; K-P; Elks; Jackson exchange club.

He was elected to the 10th Gen. Assembly in 1937 where he served with distinction and was appointed on all of the important committees of the house. He has a large business in Jackson and is one of the county's leading citizens. Married Ruth Jennings Oct. 6, 1933. He has one son.
