CRAWFORD CEMETERY
| Crawford Cemetery is located just off Crawford School Road near Shavers Road and Tillman Road and serves the Crawford Community. It is identified as "Brasher Cem." on the U.S.G.S. Scotts Hill quadrangle, suggesting that in the late 1930s or 1940s, the oldest death date on a readable marker was for someone named Brasher. Four graves are marked with fieldstones, 17 graves are marked with concrete blocks, and there are numerous unmarked graves. David Donahue recorded Crawford Cemetery in November 1993 and checked and updated it in December 2003. Margarett Alexander recorded Crawford Cemetery on February 19, 1976. Her record appears in Decatur County, Tennessee Cemetery Records published by the Captain Nathaniel A. Wesson Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Parsons, Tennessee, 1984, pp. 147-149. Reference is made to this work where appropriate. She noted "at least 27 rocks with no name." |
