John Conway (GGG Grandson of W.L. Lewis) was on a quest to find this cemetery. I asked Joe White if he knew anything about it and
Joe thought he did. Joe found out who the current owner, made contact with him and was able to find the little cemetery.
Joe and John got together, transcribed and photographed the headstones on Sunday February 8, 2009.
Five headstones were found. Four of them look fairly recent but the last is in rough shape. This land is on private property, very hard to find.

| Located in the Jeanette Community on property of James Gibson (no longer owned by Mr. Gibson) who served as our guide. Without him our efforts in locating his graveyard would have been lost. We followed a gravel road leading from the Jeanette "New Salem’ Church to the creek and then left the gravel road and took a wagon road recently cleared, and walked another quarter of a mile. We searched through much undergrowth before locating the graves. Mr. Gibson stated that his father had let timber cutters come in a few years ago and cautioned them about the graveyard and three cedar trees which marked the graves. The trees were cut, making finding the graves much harder. We did find the stumps after searching. The four tombstones marking the Lewis graves are just alike and nice rocks, put there by members of the family in the past few years. There are nine limestone markers which could mean at least 9 others are buried there. This cemetery was indexed by Margarett Alexander, Dorotha Collett, and Blanche Tuten on December 29, 1977. A great big thanks to Mr. Gibson for his assistance. |
