Decatur County, Tennessee Deeds Book 6, pp. 35-6 1867
This Indenture made and entered into this the 14th day of November 1867
betweeen J.J. Carrington of the county of Decatur and State of Tennessee
of the one part and E.P. Hill of the county and state afforSaid of the
other part witnesseth that for and in consideration of the Sum of Seven
hundred dollars to him in hand paid the Receipt whereof is hearby
acknollege have this day bargained and Sold and by their presence do
bargain and sell and convey to the Said E.P. Hill his Heirs and assigns
forever a certain tract or parsal of land in the county of Decatur and
State of Tennessee on the waters of Cub Creek with a lien retained on
said land until the Said E.P. Hill Sitisfies to judgement on S.W. Riggs
Docket against C.W. Westerman one for $123.00 Dollars and the other for
about $85.00 Dollars Now when the Said E.P. Hill satisfies the above named
Judgement then this to be valued deed and said Judgements are in favor of
the estate of J.E. Arnel and the other in favor of ... C.B. Mores Estate
the Said land is ... of as folows to wit Beginning at Swete quy the South
East corner of Jerome Johnston line Running thence north 150 poles to a
Stake thence South 48 west 27 poles to a Elm in a pond thence North 35
(degrees) west 30 poles to a Stake in the field thence South 60 11/20 west
Crosing Cub creek 48 poles to a Stake hickory & Beech pointers on East
Boundary line of James Johnson thence South 136 Poles to a Sasafas Stump
on the Bank of the Gulledg Branch hornbean & poplar points thence East
129 poles to the Beginning containing 15 acres be the same more or less
to have and to hold with all and Singlar the Rights properts and
appertenances the unto belongin to the proper use and loof to him the
Said E.P. Hill his heirs and assigns for Ever from me the J.J. Carrington
my heirs and assigns for Ever and I do covenant and agree with the Said
E.P. Hill that I am lawfuly Seized and possessed of Said land and have a
good Right to convey the Same and do warrant and defend the aforesaid
bargained premises from me my heirs forever and all persons lawfully
claiming the Same Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal
this the day and date above written
